Maximum warmth, minimal weight.

From the snowy forests of Maine to the wind-swept summits of Colorado, the Marmot Women's Aruna Down Jacket is a toasty barrier from frigid winter conditions. 600-fill down insulation provides exceptional warmth-to-weight for a wide variety of wintertime activities, ranging from high mountain hikes to snowshoeing across expansive boreal forests. Best of all, Marmot's Down Defender prevents damp, moisture-laden air and oncoming snow showers from compromising the down's heat-trapping loft. In fact, Marmot claims this treatment allows its down insulation to remain dry ten times longer than untreated down. Ultimately, this technology makes the difference between being pleasantly warm and shivering cold in damp winter weather.

Designed for light-and-fast alpine missions, the shell features polyester ripstop for low-bulk and easy packing. The shell's DWR treatment sheds oncoming snow and rain showers to prevent them from compromising the down's heat-trapping loft. Zippered hand pockets carry energy-boosting snacks and small accessories when you're skiing, hiking, and getting after it during the wintertime.

Cute Jacket

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XS

I purchased this down as a birthday gift for my sister and she absolutely loves it. The Bright Steel was the perfect shade and the jacket was a hit. Quality wise the jacket appears to be well made and I have heard nothing but positive reviews since gifting the item. Sizing wise we did hit a little snag as she typically wears an XS, however found it a little snug if she was layering at all. We tried to size up to the Small, but found it a little large. If you fall between sizes, just realize this does run a tad bit small so you may wish to size up. Ultimately she decided to stick with the XS and layering hasn't been an issue. since

Is this jacket warm enough for skiing?

You can certainly ski in this jacket. It isn't good for a snowy or rainy day, but a bluebird day; yes it will be good.

Son of the Year

It has been a very long time since I gave my mother a quality gift for Christmas but with this I hit the jackpot. She was completely surprised and in love from day one. She commented the Warmth is amazing and it pairs perfectly underneath her Goretex Burton shell. She loves wearing it around the barn and also while walking her new Great Dane puppy. I did well, Marmot did better!

Does this jacket have a hood?

Revised review - Feathers everywhere!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

While the jacket provided nice warmth and packed into a small space I will be returning the jacket. Feathers in the filling came out through the jacket all over my clothes. Especially irritating with white feathers all over my black sweater.

Hi there, is the Persian Red a true red, or more neon?

Perfect jacket with a few caveats~

I purchased this jacket for our trip to Peru. Temperatures on our trip will range from 21F to 91F! I needed something I could pack away into a small space. The jacket arrived - light as a feather, but toasty. Three things you need to know - the jacket is somewhat fitted so it is tight around my hips. Will keep the wind out but I have to be careful in the thickness of layers underneath. It did not restrict walking or sitting however, and a turtleneck sweater fit underneath okay. Secondly, the color shows on the website as a bright magenta but the color is actually an eggplant purple; thirdly, it says it has an integrated stuff sack which is supposed to be the inside zippered pocket. However, the zipper is not two sided so it can't be used as a stuff sack unless you just don't zip it up. When I contacted Backcountry they were awesome! After trying to figure it out themselves, they found other reviews saying it doesn't have the integrated stuff sack. So instead, they are sending me a stuff sack at their cost and free 2-day shipping so I get it in time for my trip. You could argue that they should not charge for the stuff sack since the description said one was integrated but I am happy to pay $7.50 to get one for the jacket. Better than sending the jacket back and trying to find another. Thanks Backcountry!

Super Cute Jacket for a killer price

This jacket is the bomb! A killer 600 fill down jacket for only $175! This is such an upgrade to the Jena - fit, quality, style and price. If you are looking for an everyday down sweater jacket or a perfect mid-layer for skiing, this is your jacket. The style has been improved from the Jena, nicer fit around the body, a nice hem detail on the bottom, smaller baffles on the side to give shape, and still quality 600 fill down that has been treated with down defender - a water resistant, environmentally safe coating on the feathers. You can't go wrong with this jacket!
