Pretty in Pink

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

The red-looking color on the site is actually a hot pink. Great pants nonetheless, pockets are placed in easy to access areas and the fabric stands up to scrapes against trees, skis and pee.

Impressed!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

Just received these and am super impressed by the quality of these pants. The material is really soft and flexible, as opposed to stiff. Also they feel lightweight for the good amount of insulation they provide. In terms of sizing, they ran small on me. I'm usually a 4, but I ordered a size 4 and a 6 given the reviews. The 4 fit small on my waist/hips. The 6 fit great.

I wore these pants for the first time this weekend resort skiing with the Mammut Niva HS Jacket and was impressed by how warm and dry I stayed all day. I normally feel that insulated ski pants look a little too big on, but I really like how the Robella's fit. At 5'3", 120 lbs I was in between a size 6 and a size 8, but the 8's fit good after some adjustments to the adjustable waist feature. As far as length goes, they do seem a little long without ski boots on, but fit great with ski boots on. We started the day skiing groomers and I stayed plenty warm with my midweight baselayer underneath. Then, as we waited in line for first tracks on 9990, I fastened the powder skirt of my jacket into the loops on the inside seam of the pants. When we got on the lift, it was still covered in a layer of snow/ice since it had just opened and I thought to myself that this would be a great test to see if I stayed dry all the way to the top as my body heat warmed up the snow on the chair on the ride up. When we got off at the top, I had a dry and warm bum! Very impressed! We got first tracks on 9990 and I had one good wipe out on the way down, but stood up and the snow shook right off. As we rode up the lift for more, I had warmed up quite a bit and opened the inner thigh vents to cool down before the next run. This is my first Mammut kit that I have owned and my initial impressions are all good things... stylish, functional, and great features! I am excited to wear these resort skiing more this season!

Fantastic Insulated Ski Pant

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I sometimes find it difficult to find an insulated ski pant that isn't stiff and constricting; finally found a pant that will join me on the colder days or frigid nights on the mountain. Mammut generally has a slightly more slender, performance fit throughout (don't expect a dramatic hourglass cut to this pant) but the cut still fits most. I LOVE the leg length and the feel of the fabric is more soft and supple vs stiff and crunchy like most of my 3L shell pants. I can leave my heavy baselayer behind as a light to mid will do just fine. This also has the clean, quality look of Mammut with just a touch of practical detail (great cargo pockets are just the right size) and with the boot gaiters and side vents to dump heat quickly when needed, this is a classic ski pant. I plan to use it primarily for resort skiing only as I prefer a shell with layers for touring and higher output activities. If the fit isn't perfect on the first round, Backcountry is awesome to help get the right size to you.

Mammut pants

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 6

these fit true to size and would be great except they are too long for skiing. I ordered a size 6 and I'm 5'5"

These are definitely cut a little long with skiing in mind but feel free to reach out to me to discuss some shorter options.

Amazing pants

My wife often has trouble finding insulated ski pants that provide an overall great fit. These pants fit the bill. They keep her warm while skiing, and also have the added bonus of ventilation zippers that help keep her cool on some of the warmer ski days. I purchased the Marine color and she absolutely loves it. She would highly recommend these pants.

Gorgeous pants

I returned these because I kept the Niva GTX pants. But I really wanted to keep both. These are gorgeous - fit incredibly well, the fabric is a soft blue/black. I didn't wear them out, so I don't know how warm they are, but they seem like they would be. I too wore Patagonia Powder Bowls and these fit 50x better.

Mammut Robella HS Pant

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 10

Have worn these once so far. The product is great overall. The only problem is fit through the hip area. I am 5' 3" and weigh 136. I had originally ordered a size 8 according to their size chart and had to send them back and get a 10. The length of the pant is fine. It would be good for someone who is 5' 5". The pant leg is plenty wide enough to get a ski boot in. I wore mine for just hiking in the snow and will be wearing them again for snowshoeing all the time! The fit around the hip area for me is snug when you have your layers on underneath. Mammut could make these pants a scosh bigger to allow for unrestricted movement.

What does regular fit mean? Are they low waisted? Fitted? Thanks.

Hey,

Regular fit means that they have a straight cut to the legs. Waist is standard, not low rise. Let me know if you have other questions on this product, or I can help you find exactly what you are looking for.

I was having a hard time finding a long enough pair of pants for skiing (I'm 5'9", 155) and was wearing a pair Patagonia Powder Bowls -- which were constantly falling down because the snap buttons would pop open during lift rides -- this pair not only stays on (with a velcro reinforced fly) but the legs are long enough to cover my boots and keep powder out. I also sized up to a 10 from an 8 because I like a baggier fit.
