Mammut's Mittellegi Pro HS Hooded Jacket is a safe space, welcome home, and a formidable foe wrapped up into one seamlessly technical jacket. Named after the Mittellegi Ridge of the Eiger, this jacket's inspiration is from the 80 years worth of mountaineering experiences on the iconic peak. Built for the steepest of climbs, unruly storms, and aerobic approaches, this jacket tells stories of FAs, exhausted limbs, and summit smiles as wide as the Eiger itself.
Once you put the jacket through its paces in the high alpine, you'll quickly realize the Gore-Tex Pro shell is reliably waterproof and adequately breathable for those energy-intensive pitches of rock and ice. The brimmed hood is fully adjustable and fits over climbing helmets for added protection from wind and ice as you work your ice tools further up the route. Elastic inserts provide extra mobility as you climb, and the tailored fit is designed in such a way as to promote full mobility whether you're engaged in a bit modern alpinism or traditional mountaineering.

Best Hardshell Jacket Hands Down
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
I'm typically weary of sporting hardshells and gore-tex outside of skiing at the resort, but this jacket has become my go to piece every time lately. Not only is it packable, light and durable but it actually breathes well when I'm skinning uphill and can battle everything the elements throw at it. I recently had it on a month long trip to Alaska where I never left the house without it. The size is perfect to fit multiple layers underneath without feeling too bulky or as a stand alone with a harness for technical approaches. Extra inner pockets make it a great pick for resort skiing to hold a phone and food and as a bonus the inner mesh pockets are the perfect size to slip in your skins for a quick backcountry transition as well. No more skins slipping out of your jacket.
Hands down the best all around hardshell jacket from the resort to the backcountry. If you want a hardshell that can handle everything and remain intact after hard use, you found your match.
I can't tell but is the hood helmet-compatible? And do you know what the length is on a Large?
Yeah, this jacket features a helmet compatible hood and the center back length is 29 inches.
