Mammut Comfort High GTX Surround Hiking Boot - Men's

Boots that breathe.

Some trails demand the stability and support only a boot can provide, but when your feet and socks are wet with sweat by the end of the day, you'll be wishing you were wearing your trail running shoes. The Mammut Men's Comfort High GTX Surround Hiking Boots, though, won't leave your feet sweaty after a long hike thanks to the Gore-Tex Surround technology, which puts the waterproof, breathable performance of Gore-Tex along the top and the bottom of the boot for a full 360-degrees of breathability. The ripstop textile upper keeps the boot's breathability on point, while liquid rubber overlays increase the boot's overall durability. The EVA wedge midsole makes for a comfortable ride when the trail turns rocky, and the Gripex rubber sole ensures solid traction whether you're walking along rolling trails, or navigating steep and exposed traverses.

Great boots

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 11.5

I inspect properties for a living and needed a pair of 3 season boots that looked like tennis shoes and offered water resistance and moderate coolness in the summer. The boots achieve almost all of these needs for the most part, very water proof, low profile with pants if you get the black/yellow ones and offer some airflow.

I've been hiking with them too and they work well, good grip, nice height. They don't offer as much airflow as advertised however, they do get hot, but better than most boots.

High quality, water proof, good laces, no break-in period really, nice and light.

1 Short hike

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I have only taken one short hike in these. Tested them in a stream and my feet were completely dry after a couple minutes of being submerged. Hiking, they felt very light and springy, but almost too mushy in the toe box. I couldn't quite pinpoint what the feeling was. I tend to have issues with boots being narrow but I did not find that issue with these. I plan on updating after I put them to more use.

Any updates?

Hey Davis, Any updates? How's the durability?

Hey Chris, sorry for the delay. The notifications on here aren't super evident. I haven't been out in this much, but I did hike 22 miles through the rainforest on the Kalalau trail in Kauai. It was a super rugged trail, and I encountered roots, mud, rocks, sand, you name it. The grip was awesome and felt like I had great traction everywhere. Waterproofing seemed great, until the water running down my leg soaked the insides haha. I will say that the soles feel very squishy. There seems to be quite a bit of give with each step. This didn't bother me, but just note that it is not a stiff feeling that some others might feel like. With the abuse it was put through, I would say durability seems great. I have been in ski boots ever since then so I will be putting them back to use very soon here!
