Drone Low Volume Climbing Shoe

Mad Rock's Drone Low Volume Climbing Shoe is an aggressive, downturned shoe with a focus-to-detail when it comes to fit. A lot of shoes with this much rubber over the toe feel as clunky as wooden clogs. The Drone's rubber has a bit more stretch to conform to your foot's shape a little better. Its R2 rubber sole is really thin to stay sensitive on the micro-footholds that make difficult problems so difficult, and the full-length midsole keeps this shoe's downturn sharp so you can continue working overhung routes with the same performance.

Mad Rock's Drone comes in both high volume and low volume options so you can find an even better fit.

  • Aggressive climbing shoe for bolts and boulders
  • Sharp downturn enhances precision and overall performance
  • Thin, stretchy R2 rubber creates a sensitive platform
  • Full-length midsole connects to 3D heel for additional support
  • Breathable, stretchy tongue with hook-and-loop strap for secure fit

Best shoe ever for a narrow foot!!!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 7.5/40

Bought a pair of these last fall and I have been bouldering in them for about 7 months now. I like to use an item for a while before I review it. First let me say that I have very skinny feet. My climbing partners call them "little skis". I have been climbing for about 14 years and have had many, many pairs of shoes. These are the first ones ever that fit my foot perfectly from heel to toe. I love, love, LOVE these shoes. I think these may be the narrowest climbing shoe on the market. They are certainly the narrowest shoe that I have tried. There are sooooo many things that I like about these shoes. Not only do they fit my foot perfectly, but they have very sticky rubber, an excellent heel for heel hooking, and lots of rubber on the toe making them great for toe hooking as well. And best of all, they are actually quite comfortable (for an aggressive climbing shoe). They have become my go to shoe for all bouldering and sport climbing. I have put them trough the paces on limestone, volcanic and even high country granite boulders. They work fantastic on all of these rock types. If you have narrow feet, get a pair of these!!! (If you have normal volume or high volume feet go with the HV model).

For sizing reference: I got these in a size 7.5 (US men's)/40 (EUR) and they fit VERY snug, but not painful. I wear a 7.5 - 8 in US women's street shoes, a 38.5 - 39 (EUR) in La Sportiva's, and a 39 - 39.5 (EUR) in Scarpa.

Awesome fit for narrow feet

I have had two pairs of the drone LV and love the fit. I have very narrow feet and these are the first shoes I've found that fit heel to toe. I went a 1/2 size down from my street shoe which seems perfect- super tight to start stretching about that 1/2 size after 2-3 weeks into a snug fit.

Performance wise they are solid on overhangs and vertical walls. The biggest surprise for me was how well they smear compared to other aggressive shoes. They aren't intended for slabby climbing of course, but they are sensitive and sticky enough to really allow you to trust smears when you need to. They are a great all around shoe and I love them for vertical to overhanging sport climbing.

Best Mad Rock Shoe!

Super comfy and worth a try! I'm a women size 8.5, and went with the 42EU. I have a average width foot, probably slightly on the narrow side, and a very small heel. At first it felt snug for a comfortable all day fit, but it stretched out a lot over three months. If I could buy again, I would go with a 41EU or even 40. That said, even with a very loose fit the shoes still work great, and I am still able to send 5.11+ with ease/ boulder V6. So either way! give it a shot.
