A successful triathlon requires a whole lot of moving parts to work together smoothly, so the less you have to worry about, the better off you'll be. Streamlining your gear is the best way to do that, and the Louis Garneau Tri X-Lite Men's Shoes are a sleek, light, and super comfortable way to make your tri setup faster, easier, and better.
While designing the X-Lite, Garneau placed a premium on ventilation, because sweaty feet can cause run-sabotaging blisters. The upper is made of sandwich mesh, which wicks moisture and molds to your feet for ultimate comfort. A Coolmax Ergo Air footbed increases the efficiency of the shoe's moisture management, and even the Ergo Air carbon composite sole is ventilated, so it's cool and airy as well as powerful.
Foot slop is the other ingredient in blister creation, but the X-Lite fights it off with a bomber heel retention system and single oversized hook-and-loop strap that controls the volume of the shoe. A pull loop at the heel makes it easy to get your shoe on when you're blasting through T1, and internal puller cord lets you set your bike up with the shoes in a horizontal position, so they're easier to slip on when you get out of the water.

Best tri shoe I've ever used!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
This is my third tri shoe from LG...I've never been unhappy with any of their products but this shoe is certainly my favorite. My favorite features are the VERY stiff carbon fiber sole, the upper material is very breathable and cool, having two insoles(one hot, one cold) is very helpful for those colder rides, and shoe itself is very light. I always wear them barefoot and have had no problems with any kind of hot spots or blisters. The pull tabs on the back are just the right size, easy to use when you need them but don't get in the way. I do olympic to full ironman distance races, ride 250+ miles per week, and would recommend these to any triathlete!
I also recommend buying them from backcountry.com, their staff is always very helpful when asking any questions as well as getting gear to you as quick as possible. Obviously you can't go wrong with the return policy as well!
Great shoe, bad fit
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
Ok so I am replacing a Louis Garneau shoe I raced triathlons with for 3 seasons. They fit great and held up nicely. They were a size 44.5 which is unusual for me see as I'm a 11.5 size shoe in US sizes. I ordered the 45 thinking it was technically the right size and when it arrived I noticed it was a little too big. Ok no big deal, they have a great return policy, so I shipped them back and exchanged them for a 44.5. The 44.5 came and I took them in when I got my bike fit. I started to put the shoe on and noticed that then were way too small. My toe was at the end of toe box and these were noticeably more narrow than my previous LG's. So again I had to return them. It looks like LG no longer makes shoes the sane way and they no longer fit my foot. I am giving them 3 stars for me because I know they held up nicely before but the sizing was different and no longer fit me. If you have narrow foot these shoes would be great. Just make sure your foot isn't the same size as mine because there is no size for 11.5...
