Brings the comfort, pitch after pitch.

Look to the La Sportiva Women's Tarantulace Climbing Shoe for comfort and performance on multi-pitches. This unlined shoe features low asymmetry, a flexible midsole, and a smooth leather upper to help your foot feel cozy after climbing cracks for hundreds of feet. Great Value Shoe

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these shoes as a gift. Words from my sister: The shoes are grippy yet are comfortable with a little bit of stretch. Great value shoe for getting into climbing. Held up well on the slab!

Great shoe for getting into climbing

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm a beginner climber and this was my first shoe that I used only in the gym so far. It has been great for me so far with enough grip and flexible so felt more comfortable than other shoes I tried at first. There's probably a little more room in the toes than other climbing shoes.

Great 1st Shoe

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I gave these to my aunt as a Christmas present. These are her first pair of rock climbing shoes and they have been great for her. She is a beginner and these are the perfect beginner shoe. They are affordable and work well when you are just starting out. She has used them a could times bouldering and climbing at the gym. They fit perfectly and were true to the sizing chart. She would recommend them to any beginner looking for their first shoe!

Awesome Shoe for Beginners

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Was pretty (very) skeptical about buying my first pair of climbing shoes because I have wide feet and wasn't convinced any of them would ever be comfortable. Happy to report that I was wrong. These are awesome shoes for beginners! Definitely fit very tight at first but after a few weeks in the gym, they felt super flexible and comfy. Not aggressive shoes, but if you're just starting out and plan on climbing 2-3 times a week, these will be perfect for you. A friend steered me away from more expensive options for my first shoe and convinced me to try this pair for a few months and see if I liked them. Many months later, these bad boys are still going strong!

Comfy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Everyone else in the gym is rocking these too! very comfortable for a climbing shoe and does the trick up the wall.

Good, comfy beginner shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These were my first climbing shoe and they were great to get started into climbing because they are comfortable, fit nicely, have good rubber, and you honestly can't beat the price.

I would recommend these shoes to people looking to get into climbing but maybe don't want to make a huge investment money wise. They will fit comfy on your feet, making long days at the crag or climbing gym pain-free. If you're looking for a stiffer, more aggressive shoe, I would recommend a different shoe. As a final note, I noticed the fit started out super snug but after a LOT of use, they got a little looser, making them feel like ultra comfy climbing shoes.

Great Beginner Shoe

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these for a good friend and this is what she has to say: As a beginner I wanted something that would not kill my feet. I found these shoes to be very comfortable. I have a wider foot so it was harder to find a shoe that felt good and also supported my foot. I love the color as well!

Women Climbing shoe

This is my first pair of climbing shoes I have owned. They are a good all around comfortable beginner shoe. I love the idea of the lace up shoe so I can make them as tight or as loose as I want. Sometimes when it is hot outside your feet can swell and so its nice to be able to loosen them but still have the support you need. The shoe also isn't super arched so you can wear them for longer periods of time. I wear these indoor and outdoor. Awesome beginner shoe!

    I wasn't a fan

This was my first pair of climbing shoes. I recently exchanged them for a pair of Scarpa Force V's because I have pretty large, wide feet for a woman and women's climbing shoes are just too narrow. I liked that these laced, but even when I tied the laces differently to give it some width, but pull the heel in, it just didn't feel supportive for me. I also slipped a lot on the wall at my bouldering gym when I wore these. Bummer. I do know plenty of other women who love these shoes, however, and it works out great for them. They just weren't the shoe for me.

      Great Shoe

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

Bought these shoes for a friend, and she has had nothing but good things to say about them. She really likes the way to fit (true to size for her) and said they are ultimate comfy. The light blue color is really cool and looks great!

      Comfy beginner shoe

Awesome all around shoe for a beginner/intermediate climber. Comfy enough that I don't even feel the need to put approach shoes back on to belay.

      Good Beginner Shoe

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 40

I was a little nervous to order these because climbing shoe sizes seem to be all over the place, but I was really happy to learn that these shoes fit true to size. I'm usually an 8.5 and ordered a 40 in these and they fit perfectly. They're a really comfortable shoe with not to much arch so you can wear them for longer periods of time/don't have to take them off between climbs. Overall they seem like a great beginner climbing shoe.

      Great Shoes

I have a pair of the men's versions of these and they're great. I bought them for my girlfriend and she loves them.

        Great Training/Beginner Shoe

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size

I use these shoes just for indoor climbing and training sessions.
They are a great for the price, making them perfect for training sessions or the beginner just getting into rock climbing.

Downsides: The rubber is not nearly as sticky as my other (but more expensive) climbing shoes. My feet will slip on polished holds but I've still climbed moderately difficult problems with these shoes. There is also a hotspot on my pinkie toe, and the heel. This may be just for my own foot (I just have average shaped feet - if anything they air on the wide side), but it does not occur until I've had the shoe on for 2+ hours. I manage to keep these on for 1.5-2 hours a time usually before giving my feet a break.

The Positives: The arch support is nice, and the laces allow for a tight or loose fit depending on my mood. For my foreseeable future of training days in the indoor gym, these are my go-to shoes. They probably work decently well outdoors as well, though I have not tested it (I usually opt for my Anasazi Moccasym's for any outdoor climbing I do). Compared to other climbing shoes, they are relatively affordable, and very durable.

        Still Climbing!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size

These are the first pair of climbing shoes I've purchased and I am so pleased with my decision! They are comfy and are a great all over climbing shoe. I use them in both the gym and outside. Over a year later and I am still climbing in them. No signs of wear or tear, they hold up great. Great shoe for beginners, highly recommend.

        Cool Comfy Climbing shoes

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: 38

Wow, these are really good climbing shoes and they are super comfortable right out of the box! Not to mention they are a super good deal for what you get.

I usually wear and 8 or 8 1/2 in street shoes and I ended up with a 38, they are pretty dang tight but not painful and they've stretched out to my foot so they are getting more comfortable each time I wear them.

I' m pretty new to climbing and based off of reviews and more experienced climbers I chose these shoes. I really think they are the best shoes for anyone starting out or who isn't a super serious climber and only goes once in a while.

I can attest that climbing shoes will wear out pretty fast as a new climber so it's good to get a pretty low priced shoe to start out.

Even as I get better and more serious I think I will still keep a pair of these around though cause they are so comfortable!

        Great review!

        Great value for a beginner!

This shoe was my first pair of climbing shoes! I love them, they are a great price and cozy to ease you in. I am a size 9 in street shoes and these fit perfect. They are not as aggressive as some shoes you can get out there, so if you are a pro I think these might not be the shoes for you. The toe is a bit thicker which helps for comfort while still being sticky enough to progress up the wall! I think these shoes are perfect for new climbers at the gym! E-mail me if you have any questions!

        Decent Beginner Shoes

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: 39

I had these shoes for about one year, and I used them primarily in the gym. I felt pretty confident climbing 5.10 in them, but as soon as I crossed over into the 5.11 world I found that I needed something more aggressive. So, if you're a 5.10 or under climber or if you're just starting to climb, these will be a great option for you.

Also, pro tip: there is a thing called a resole. I wish I would have known this because I ran these into the ground; and they're not usable any more, which could have been avoided with a resole.

        Happy climbing, everyone.

This will be my first time purchasing climbing shoes I wear a 9 in street shoes what size is recommended?

        Hi Carly,

I would suggest a 40.5 or a 41 The easiest way to get the best fit is to order both and then you can try them on. Everyone's foot is shaped differently, and it goes the same for climbing shoes. We can help you out with return shipping as it is technically an exchange.
