The right tool to get into climbing

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I recently started climbing, and after renting shoes from my gym for two months, I decided to grab a pair of these. I didn't know much about climbing shoes, but I heard these were a good option and I thought they looked neat. I really noticed a difference on my first climb in these shoes. They weren't as "comfortable" as the really flat pairs my gym offers, but my toe was definitely stronger in these and I really enjoyed them.

Great shoe, wrong size for me!

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I ordered these in a size 37.5. I am usually a 7.5 in street shoes and a 7 to 6.5 in climbing shoes. I prefer to size down a bit to get a more performance fit. I ordered these before trying them on and found that sizing down a full size was not the call. They definitely run a bit small, and I would suggest going in your regular street shoe size or maybe even sizing up. I had to return them, but they looked amazing! Very sturdy leather and well made construction. The heels looked pretty small, even for a size that way too small for me.

Ordered For A Friend

My friend loves them, but has noted a bit painful pressure point on the top of her big toes when using them. Otherwise she loves them and they feel great in all other areas!

    Love Them!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got these shoes for my girlfriend for her birthday. This is what she had to say:
"I love these shoes. They are a great gym shoe but also do a great outdoors. I have been using a poor fitting, cheaper shoe and the Finale has stepped up my climbing. I went down a half size and I am happy I did. They hurt the first few times but have stretched out nicely. I think they are a good beginner shoe, and one that will be great as climbers start to progress on harder climbs."

Great shoe for beating around in the gym

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used this shoe mostly as a beater shoe in the gym and use a more aggressive shoe for outside climbing. It's pretty comfortable as the leather has stretched a lot, edges well, and smears and heel-hooks decently. I can see it as a great beginner shoe or a solid gym option since it is priced really well.
I sized down 1 full size and kind of regret it as it can get uncomfortable. I'll probably buy this again for gym climbing and will size down 1/2 size.

    Great shoe!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this for a very close friend as a gift. She was really attached to her old climbing shoes But it looks like these are a winner as a replacement! The first couple times climbing she has mentioned that they hurt a little bit but are breaking in nicely.

So glad I listened to the Rep!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 36.5

Sizing with climbing shoes can be tough, expecially as you will these shoes WILL stretch with use so it can be tough to tell if the right size is correct when they are brand new.

I tried on a size up from my true size, and it felt comfortable, but luckily I was at a demo, and the rep instructed me to go at least to my true size , if not a .5 size even smaller than that. After my first 10 uses with the shoe the fit is perfect! If I had gone with that larger size I would be super bummed that the fit isn't tight enough.

They are nice and grippy, and super comfortable. I know I'll be able to use these on a multi-pitch day, as I don't have to take them off between climbs in the gym. Comforatable to walk around in and super versatile on the wall.

So happy with these. Not too agressive, but have great fit, and of course look cute on my feet as an added bonus!

So glad I listened to the Rep!

Did you end up going with your shoe size or a 1/2 size down?

    Great gift for my girlfriend

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 36.0

"I love my La Sportiva climbing shoes! I had been using a low quality climbing shoe for about two years and it was a night and day difference when I climbed with my new shoes. The laces make it easy to adjust how tight I want the shoe to fit in different areas. I can execute more difficult moves now that I was too afraid to do before. The shoes do occasionally make a suction cup noise by the heal but I realized that I needed to tighten the laces more and it fixed that problem. The design of the La Sportivas was what first drew me in and the quality will keep me coming back for more!"

She originally tried on a 35.5, but realized they run a little more narrow and sized up.

    Great review, Charles!

    Great Italian Shoe!

Awesome - got these for a relative of mine getting into climbing and she loves them. She says they are super comfortable and are great!
