Zyro 58L Backpack

One of the best parts of summer backpacking is relaxing under the stars at the end of a long day, but when you're hiking with a bulky and outdated pack you'll probably be too sore to do anything but lie in your tent. The Kelty Zyro 58L Backpack makes those long days seem a little bit shorter and sets you up for a happy night of camping with its comfortable and breathable suspension system. Ideal for a range of trip lengths, this pack features Kelty's NadaTech system, which not only delivers a comfortable and supportive carry, but also minimizes points of contact to deliver maximum airflow on hot summer days in the mountains. It also features torso height adjustment, a padded waistbelt, and load-adjuster straps to really help you dial in on that perfect fit as you travel through challenging terrain.

A comfortable carry is great and all, but when you're out in the wild for a few days at a time you need to know that you'll be able to bring all of the essentials. Well, the Zyro 58L has you covered there, with lots of smart storage for gear and other important items. The top lid is removable and features several pockets for smaller items, while several large pockets throughout the sides and back of the pack keep water filters, pocket knives, and other gear within easy reach. There's a dedicated sleeping bag compartment that ensures protection for a good night's sleep, as well as hip belt and water bottle pockets that ensure that water and snacks are never far away.

  • Bring comfort to long miles with this multi-day trekking pack
  • Breathable straps and carry system keep you cool in the summer heat
  • Height and load adjustment features help you find the perfect carry
  • Removable top lid lets you shed weight on lighter missions
  • Dedicated compartment keeps your sleeping bag safely tucked away
  • Stretch side pockets stash extra layers in case of inclement weather
  • Hipbelt and water bottle pockets keep hydration and snacks close by
  • Trekking pole carry loops keep your hands free in difficult sections

Did not fit! Neck wrecked!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased this and another Kelty backpack for a 5 day trip. I watched all available videos on fitting and wearing. I believed the bag was fit properly and went on the trip. During the first day, it was apparent that the bag was not fitting me properly. I am 6'1" and weight 240lbs. I have broad shoulders and the chest strap was very high on my chest, basically unusable. Day 2, mid way through the 7 mile hike, made further adjustments to remedy extreme neck pain. I ended up having to undo the straps that pull the shoulder straps down, fitting the bag closer to your torso size. This helped a little, but the neck pain remained. This made an already difficult 45 mile, 5-day hike a marathon of pain.

The pack was loaded with nearly 35 lbs. Everything I read led me to believe this pack would fit well, ride well, and have great ventilation.

Fit: 1 star
Ride: 1 star
Ventilation: 3 stars

As far as the storage goes, this pack does have great space for a trip of this length. I found myself wishing for more organization options in the outer pocket and top pockets. These both ended up being "catch alls."

Overall, I really wanted to like this pack. I'm disappointed.

Now passed the 30 day return policy, I'm stuck with a pack that doesn't fit well and causes extreme neck pain...

How to Measure Your Torso:
Measure your torso length by bending your head forward so your chin touches your chest. Feel for the most prominent bump at the back of your neck. Now measure from that point down to an imaginary line connecting the tops of your hips around your back. This works best with a partner's help.
