Mountain town heritage.

The Keen Ashland Slip-On Shoe has an outdoors heritage. Born from Keen's hybrid footwear line, the Ashland incorporates their now-famous toe bumper in a slip on shoe designed to be worn in town. Other outside inspiration is found in the lugged sole, weather-resistant uppers, and supportive midsole. Commuters never had it so good—catch the train or walk to work in a shoe rugged enough for the trail.

It is true, these are not as pictured. The other reviewer has it right. I kept mine. They fit well and are comfortable but I was very disappointed that they did not match the picture. The wide Keen toe box really works for me. I also own Keen clogs, Newport bicycle sandals and street Newports.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I was excited when Keen revived some of their classic styles, but this is iteration is not up to the oroiginal Ashland shoe. What I received is a shoe with almost a suede like finish instead of the smooth full-grain leather on the previous version. It looks like hiking boot leather - definitely not something you'd use a leqather balm on. Also, no contrasting stitching. It's a drab dark brown. The fit was similar to the previous revision which was a good thing. I was hoping to use tese for casual wear at the office but they are more a jeans or hiking pants look. Will probably return them :-(.

One last note on Keen sizing, it's true to size for the shoe, meaning that if you know what size fits, it's consistent from one release to the next.
