KAVUWizard Legs Pant - Men's

No magic wand required.

It's not magic, just damn fine design that makes the Kavu Men's Wizard Legs Pant magical to wear. Cotton gets a little kick of stretch from spandex and you get a comfortable pair of lightweight pants. The flat front guarantees no one will think you've raided your grandpa's closet, and rolled cuffs are a dead give-away that you're not too taken with tailoring. The gusseted crotch makes it easy to leap over fences and walls for the shortest route to wherever you're going.

  • Cotton-spandex twill blend
  • Flat front pants
  • Fixed waist, gusseted crotch

Super Comfortable Pants!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 34

I had already purchased a pair of Kavu's Mojo & Mason pants in the same size and liked them enough to get a second pair of each in a different color. The second time around I added a pair of the Wizards. These pants definitely are the most comfortable of the 3 styles. For a guy my size, (especially 15 yrs back when I was 170 lbs) I've got a backside. Pants usually are tighter in the thigh & seat of my pants. These are a great fit, not baggy feeling/looking plus the spandex in them offer some give if rock hopping. Great to wear to work or on the weekends in an urban setting.
BTW - pics with the rolled cuffs are not stitched this way. They fit me perfectly so the only way I'd roll them is if I were barefoot on the beach, through a creek, etc.
Durability - I've seen some comments on the three styles of Kavu pants I mentioned. I am extremely rough on my clothes (and my body ha!). I can understand the durability thing I guess. I just know what works for me on trail (and off trail) and what I shouldn't expect to hold up. Also, (slightly off topic) I started only using a front loading washer & start hang drying my clothes years ago to lessen the environmental impact. I found I not only save water & energy but I also don't go through clothes as quickly. Using the old style top loader washer & a dryer regularly will wear out any cotton or more delicate fabric quickly.

Nice pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 38

These are much more fitted than last year's model. Not a bad thing but it scared me a bit when I first put them on. I have a 36 inch waist but have to wear 38 in order for my legs to fit in the pants. These were close, but have loosened up after a few wash and wears. I buy this style of pants for the cell phone pocket. Much less binding than putting in the front or rear pocket. Nexus 6p fits nicely.

Kavu's Mason pants? After readying this (and having 2 pair of the Masons) I am pretty sure Lee was reviewing Kavu Mason pants. They have the cell phone pocket, my favorite thing about them. I too feel the Mason's are tight in the thigh (also in the seat of the pants for me).

Comfortable, surprisingly trendy

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 30

I was thinking these pants would look a bit baggy (like hiking pants...e.g. prAna Stretch Zion) but they are actually fitted throughout the leg, and end up looking fairly fashionable. I've had them for the weekend, so I have yet to really break 'em in (usually this evolves riding my bike a good bit and otherwise walking around town), but so far so good.

I have what I would call athletic thighs (playing ultimate, riding my bike all the time, hiking and running), and the pants are a little tights in the thighs, but with the stretch are comfortable enough. They run a little long, but I just fold them up at the bottom and they look fine (I'm on the small side of 30x30). I feel comfortable wearing them at work in a "business casual" office (by west coast standards, so take that with a grain of salt).

I'm happy so far. If I blow them out in month while biking to the store for milk, I'll report back.

Insanely Comfortable

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 34

Purchased these pants to use both casually and for the outdoors. Typically wear a 34X34, and ordered a 34. I have large thighs, so these pants are a little tight around the thighs, but the length is perfect. The 2% spandex in the pants also makes them less prone to ripping when nature requires you to bend over. Highly recommend these pants.

Outside TV "Branded" : Kavu

Kavu understands the needs of their customers because they get out and do the same thing: play hard, get dirty, and have fun doing it. This has allowed them to create functional and durable clothing without sacrificing fashion.

By golly, they have a winner!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

Size:

Purchased these on SAC, hoping the inseam would be true-to-length, instead of the stubby 32" inseam mere mortals demand. These are perfect. Sit at the waist or just below & the cuffs hit my heels just above the ground. Not too baggy, but not emaciated-hipster skinny-jeans, either. Just the right amount of straight-leg girth. My only beef is that the 38" waist feels a bit generous...kind of like Levi's 505 38" waists are really pushing 40".

-

Material:

I cannot speak for durability at this time, as I have only worn them one time. However, the material feels fantastic. The 2% spandex makes the fabric ridiculously stretchable. If i had the requisite flexibility to do the splits, I would not think twice in these humdoggies. Regarding heft of material, it has the thickness & feeling of sturdy chinos...but crazy stretchy.

-

Opinion:

So far? I love them. I truly hope they pop up on SAC again, because I am way-too-frugal & although $64 (on sale, backcountry.com) is worth it, I am a bit miserly for that price point.
