I was hoping to replace my beat up sling bag that I use for day hikes and often as my summertime purse but I have mixed feelings about this one. Good fabric and nice color but I don't think the design is very functional. For a small bag the strap is really over the top having four ropes seems excessive and showy, look at how outdoorsy I am. The small pockets on the front, I do not trust the top one with money, ID or keys as it has loosely fitting velcro closure. It's too small for sunglasses, too small for most cell phones. The next one down is better, securely zipped and big enough for a phone but when you set this bag down it falls forward onto that pocket. The bag needs to be hung, it can't sit up on its own as the bottom is pointy round. The two larger compartments are most awkward as the zippers go up and down vertical. You really need to make sure to zip up or risk stuff falling out. I just find that awkward. Every time I unzip it I feel like my things may fall out and feel safer unzipping it while sitting down. My cheapo sling bag has much more intuitive compartments, diagonal zippers, several small pockets inside, a spot for your earbuds, rings to attach keys inside the bag, several places for your wallet and essentials. Slots that are the right size for granola bars, pens, and a hole for the cord on your earbuds (yes I am old school and don't do bluetooth earbuds, I still have a cord) also has a mesh thing on the side for your water bottle to be easily grabbed as needed. This bag doesn't have a convenient spot for a water bottle. You will just have to stuff it in the bag somewhere. There is no D ring or clip to hang a canteen from either.
My overall take on this bag? It is stylish with durable fabric but that's as far as it goes. The compartments leave a lot to be desired. It's an outdoorsy looking purse and at best a momwalker bag. This bag will probably not be going on any day hikes with me as convenient access to the water bottle is essential. If I have to stop and get into the bag every time, nah. So, I will use this as a roomy purse and see how that goes.
Got this as a gift for my mom traveling to Cuba, and looks like the man is enjoying it too!
