Take flight with the Juliana Roubion 2.0 Carbon CC XX1 Complete Mountain bike gobbling up anything standing in your way, from the steep rock rolls of Squamish, BC to jagged stretches of high-altitude trails crossing the Colorado Rockies. Six inches of VPP travel lends a greater margin of error for riding faster and harder than what's possible on shorter travel trail bikes, such as Juliana Furtado. Ultimately, where the Furtado is more of a precision instrument for dissecting tight sections of trail where maneuverability is key, the Roubion is an aggressive assault vehicle for blasting over imposing obstacles at high speeds.
For 2017, Juliana carries over the VPP3 suspension tweaks seen on the 2.0's release in mid-2016, notably a subtle redesign in the top suspension linkage, where it now connects to the top tube, as well as neatly tucking the lower link above the bottom bracket. This subtle redesign makes it more stiff while protecting the lower linkage from damaging rock strikes and flinging trail debris. As you've come to expect from Juliana, this suspension meets the needs of lighter riders with a custom shock tune that makes the bike feel all the more responsive and tailored to your specific needs as a female rider.
Notable geometry changes with the redesign include a slack head tube angle of 66 degrees for downhill composure at high speeds. Looking at the rear end, the chainstays are a tick above the agile benchmark of 17 inches, which makes getting the rear end around corners easier while improving the bike's ability to lift the front over imposing trail obstacles, such as large rocks and root sections. The 13.4-inch bottom bracket strikes a nice balance between stable handling and trail clearance, meaning you'll feel stable at high speeds, but without excess pedal strikes and clearance issues like some lower-slung bikes on the market.
Juliana's impressive Carbon CC construction makes its way into this version of the Roubion 2.0, which is approximately nine ounces lighter than its Carbon C counterpart. This is mainly due to the lay-up process employing a higher modulus carbon that allows Juliana's engineers to trim away excess materials without sacrificing any strength or stiffness. In fact, Juliana frames are renowned across the industry for their uncompromising stiffness, meaning you'll feel rocket-like acceleration the minute you step on the gas, whether you're climbing, descending, or pedaling over flat ground. Also, Juliana's carbon frames are ridiculously strong, as backed by an amazing lifetime warranty that adds peace of mind across rugged stretches of trail.
Delving into this crème de la crème XX1 build, you'll find a massive range of usable gears with the XX1 Eagle 12-speed drivetrain eliminating the need for a front derailleur, especially considering its 50-tooth cog for long climbs. SRAM Guide Ultimate brakes are a nice addition for their brute stopping force, seeing you'll be flying downhill at high rates of speed. Another upgrade, the Race Face ARC 24 wheels are laced to Industry Nine Torch hubs, which are known to have the quickest response in the industry with their 3-degree engagement. As expected from Juliana's attention to detail, the women's-specific Primeiro Saddle and Juliana lock-on grips make it feel custom tailored to your female body.
