Ripping fast and rowdy descents with high-speed composure and A-line confidence, the Juliana Roubion 2.0 Carbon CC XO1 ENVE Complete Mountain Bike tenaciously devours anything standing in its path with its six inches of VPP travel paired with a progressively slack geometry. The Roubion 2.0's raw aggression makes it the go-to choice for riders tackling some of the most technical trails on the continent, from the steep-and-gnarly rock rolls of Squamish, BC to brutal trails of jagged rock along the Colorado Plateau of Southern Utah. Although it's been surpassed in the travel department by Juliana's freeride-specific Strega, the Roubion 2.0 retains its enduro race-bred roots with six inches of VPP travel gobbling up anything standing in your path—all without compromising your ability to climb the steepest trails for the fast and flowing descent that follows.
For 2017, Juliana carries over the VPP3 suspension tweaks seen on the 2.0's release in mid-2016, notably a subtle redesign in the top suspension linkage, where it now connects to the top tube, as well as neatly tucking the lower link above the bottom bracket. This subtle redesign makes it increasingly stiff while protecting the lower linkage from damaging rock strikes and flinging trail debris. As you've come to expect from Juliana, this suspension meets the needs of lighter riders with a custom shock tune that makes the bike feel resoundingly responsive and tailored to the needs of the female rider.
Notable geometry changes with the 2.0 redesign include a slack head tube angle of 66 degrees for downhill composure at high speeds. Looking at the rear end, the chainstays measure a tick above the agile benchmark of 17 inches, which makes getting the rear end around corners easier while improving the bike's ability to lift the front over imposing trail obstacles, such as large rocks and gnarled root sections. The 13.4-inch bottom bracket strikes a nice balance between stable handling and trail clearance, meaning you'll feel stable at high speeds, but without excess pedal strikes and clearance issues like some lower-slung bikes on the market.
Juliana's impressive Carbon CC construction makes its way into this version of the Roubion 2.0, which is approximately nine ounces lighter than its Carbon C counterpart. This is mainly due to the lay-up process employing a higher modulus carbon that allows Juliana's engineers to trim away excess material without sacrificing any strength or stiffness. In fact, Juliana's frames are renowned across the industry for their uncompromising stiffness, meaning you'll feel rocket-like acceleration the minute you step on the gas, whether you're climbing, descending, or pedaling over flat ground. To back Juliana's legendary frame quality, the California-based company gives you an exceptional lifetime warranty on all of their frames.
Delving into this exceptional XO1 build's component spec, you'll benefit from SRAM's XO1 Eagle 12-speed drivetrain, which gives you a massive 500 percent gear range without the need for a pesky front derailleur. On those lung-busting climbs pushing you to the absolute limit of exhaustion, the Eagle cassette's 50-tooth cog gives you a bail-out for spinning up the steepest climbs without resorting to pushing your bike uphill. SRAM Guide Ultimate brakes complement the Roubion's go-fast ambitions by stopping in a hurry during sketchy situations and steep descents. We'd be amiss to forget the exceptional ENVE m60/40 rims, which add souped-up stiffness and acceleration to this bike with their carbon construction. These stiff and snappy carbon rims are laced to Industry Nine Torch Hubs for the most responsive feel in the industry with their impressive 3-degree engagement.
