Your foot's baselayer.

Injinji designed its extremely thin Liner CoolMax Crew Toe Sock to layer under hiking, skiing, or or even running socks to add more comfort and protection. Its CoolMax XtraLife fabric has superior moisture management fibers that keep your foot dry, cool, and comfortable. Injinji's 5-toe design prevents blistering, and added arch support keeps your foot prime and ready for long runs and hard hikes. The anatomical fit means each sock was designed to fit either your right or left foot to a "T."

Incredible in all aspects

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Comfy as all heck, warm and not a single blister or hotspot, even after 15+ miles of treacherous hiking. Worn under a thick pair of Merino wool socks will keep your feet nice and toasty without overheating. The breathability and moisture wicking is also incredible- though my boots were soaked and socks damp, these liners somehow held almost all of the moisture off through it all. Purchased a pair for both my fiancé and I and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the performance. Highly recommended addition to your collection.

Love these liners!

No hot spots or blisters since I started using these socks. YMMV, but for my foot and boot/shoe set up, these liners are amazing. One note: you might want to consider a shoe/boot with a slightly larger toe box than usual, since the extra material between the toes does cause a (small) increase in the width of your toes in the shoe/boot.

Injinji socks are freakin awesome

First off, they shrink. You could probably avoid that by line drying, but I just ordered a larger size. The first pair I bought shrunk small enough that my kids could wear them. So, a size small shrunk down to a kids size 2 shoe. BUT, I'll say that even then they would stretch enough that they were still comfortable for me. I put that pair to a torture test. I have a pair of boots that are super comfortable, but I can't wear them because after an hour or so my feet get sweaty, and you do not want to be near when they come off. With these, no sweat, literally. I ended up getting 5 pairs of smalls for each of my two girls, and 5 pairs of mediums for myself (Men's 8.5 US). The fact that the toes are all separated means that skin does not rub on skin. They wick the moisture away from the skin. We wear these under another good pair of Merino wool hiking socks, all day hiking, no stink no sweat. My kids took the below picture of me standing in a stream we had just crossed. The stepping stones were too wobbly and slick to take safely, so we just walked across. THEN we walked about another 7 miles that day, in those wet shoes. Not one blister, or even discomfort. I cannot rate these highly enough. Just buy them.

Great liner sock

I have another pair I bought a couple of years ago and I bought this pair so I could switch off on a recent cross-country skiing trip. I use them mostly in the winter for downhill and cross-country skiing. I think the individual toes work great for a liner sock. The toes on this pair seem longer than the older pair, which is a good thing.

Most excellent liners!

These liners are awesome! My son and I just got back from a 50 mile AT hike without any blisters! I’ll never hike again without wearing these! Must have!

ZERO BLISTERS

I know it takes more than these liners but they really do work well. I wear Altra Olympus shoes (one full size "too big") and fairly heavy merino wool socks over these liners but the system worked and worked well. These liners are well made and comfortable. I wear a 9.5 in most shoes (I wore 10.5 Altra's on this hike) and a medium sock fit perfect.

Toe Socks

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I thought toe socks were uncool until I had a running injury in my calf that made it feel like I had a broken toe (I didn’t have a broken toe). These socks work exactly how I want them to and allow my toes to naturally splay and move around.

first time toe socks

i've wore them a few times and love them so far!

great!

these work so well for blister prevention. i also wear them in my sleeping bag to keep my toes from getting clammy. great that i can wear my flip flops in camp, too!

I never thought I'd like these

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these to use under heavyweight wool socks with my new Asolo Alta Via GV, and after a few shorter breaking-in hikes I find them to be amazingly comfortable. They don't pull down and bunch up, either. I'll definitely be ordering more, along with some wool ones for colder temperatures.

I feel it makes my toes stronger every time I wear them!

Noticeably more comfortable hiking

I use these under darn tough socks for hiking. I've used them several times so far on short hikes(5 to 10 miles). They definitely add comfort as far as temperature control and friction. My feet feel fresh throughout the hike, and feel really cool after taking off the wool socks with these still on. I am considering buying more so I can layer for work- maybe I won't be thinking about getting home to get my work boots off throughout the day!

Game Changers

Injinji toe socks truly change the game when it comes to dealing with blisters. I just completed a thru-hike of the PCT, and when somebody recommended these socks to me when I mentioned my blisters, I was skeptical at first. Then, they told me that they, too, had been unsure, so when they switched from their normal socks to the toe socks and their blisters went away, they tried switching back to their normal socks to see if it really was the sock that stopped the blisters. Guess what? Their blisters came back.
I hiked in Injinjis for about 2,200 miles and they 100% worked for me and were worth it. I actually used the liners as normal socks because my feet get hot really easily and I found it much more comfortable to use the liners compared to their thicker hiking socks. Obviously, I went through way more pairs this way, but I know people who used the liner as a liner and rotated the same few pair for the entire length of the trail. I probably had two or three pairs for every 200 miles of trail.
Injinjis work, no question about it!! Definitely would recommend these.

When thru hiking, how many days in a row did you wear one pair? How did you wash?

LOVE THESE!!!

I wasn't sure I'd like toe sock liners but now I'll never go back to anything else. I love them and now my boyfriend loves them too. They're comfortable, prevent blisters and wick moisture. Win, win!

Moms feet are happy

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

My mom always complains about blisters when backpacking. Heard about these from a friend so I grabbed her some. She didn't get a single blister on our 50 mile loop up to King's Peak in Utah. She couldn't believe how well they worked.

I wear a women's 8.5-9 shoe, which puts me right between a small and a medium. Should I size up or down? I do plan on wearing them as liner socks.

Hi Mollie,

With liner socks, I would lean more towards the Medium. If you wanted to try out both sizes to see which works best, feel free to email me at kweiser@backcountry.com and I can offer a free return label for the ones that end up not fitting!

Great for preventing blisters

I bought these liners because I was getting hotspots between toes when wearing my hiking boots. These were great. I wore them under Smartwool socks while hiking in high elevation and did not have to worry about cold feet.

I am a Peace Corps Volunteer in the little-known Lesotho. Rugged terrain and high elevation make for unpredictable weather, walking paths, and hiking almost every day. I wear these socks as often as they are clean. I love that they wick moisture and clean easy (my foot got semi-submerged in water on a cold day when I was wearing these socks and Chacos, and these dried extremely quickly). I love these socks and will probably buy more!
I wear a size 7 shoe and the small size was perfect!
