2400 Dyneema Ice 40L Backpack

It's surprising that Hyperlite Mountain Gear's 2400 Dyneema Ice Backpack only weighs two pounds and can carry all the climbing and alpine gear you need for a day. With a 40L capacity, the Dyneema Ice has a capacity suitable for ropes, racks, axes, crampons, helmets, and winter clothing. Hyperlite Mountain Gear made this pack out of thicker, extremely tear-resistant Dyneema, the same fabric used in climbing equipment, to ensure long-lasting durability without the weight.

Unique to Hyperlite Mountain Gear, the Dyneema Hardline suspension system lines the back panel and shoulder straps in padded foam and spacer mesh for breathable comfort, and there are removable aluminum stays for extra stability where you need it. Hyperlite Mountain Gear equipped this pack with fully taped seams and a roll-top closure for protection against wet weather and snowy grounds. There's also an internal zippered pocket for valuables, and an external attachment system for crampons and ice axes.

  • Dyneema Hardline suspension system
  • Removable aluminum stays
  • Foam back panel, shoulder straps, and waist belt
  • Roll-top closure
  • External crampon and ice axe attachment system
  • Internal zippered pocket
  • Four side compression system

Light, and durable.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It’s a great combination. I’ve used this thing year round. I love it for ski touring, and high alpine climbing. Sometimes I wish there was a brain to the pack, or a pocket, or two, but I understand why there isn’t. I will most likely be buying another one of these, when this one wears out.

How to Measure:
Your torso length, not your height, determines your pack size. Hyperlite Mountain Gear recommends the following to determine yours:
1. Tilt your head slightly forward to locate the bony bump at the base of your neck. (This is your C7 vertebra).
2. Using a flexible tape measure, have someone measure starting at that spot and running down along the curve of your spine.
3. Place your hands on your hips so you can feel your iliac crest, which serves as the "shelf" of your pelvic girdle. (It's the first hard thing you feel when you run your fingers down from the sides of your ribcage.) Position your hands so your thumbs are reaching behind you.
4. Have your friend finish measuring at the point where the tape crosses an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs.
5. If your measurement falls right in between sizes, we suggest you choose the large torso size.
