Great front country rain coat!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

This coat hasn't seen much of the backcountry but in my life in the front country this has proven to be a great coat. I'm 5'2" /120lbs and worried about the lenght but it fits just fine. I can wear an additional layer beneath if it's not too bulky. The hood, zippers, pockets - all good. Satisfied with the actual rain protection, especially due to the length and hood. I bought the Forrest Night color because it was on sale but I'm glad I did - a great green and a lively pop of pink. Others seem to like the coat too because I get compliments frequently. So happy I bought this coat!

Great rain jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: S

I bought this to replace an old lightweight rain jacket that, while easily packable, didn't breathe and felt like I was wearing plastic wrap - it was clingy and sweaty and I hated it. Funnily enough, I specifically needed a new rain jacket for a trip I was taking to Belfast, and this jacket totally lived up to its namesake! It packed well and didn't hold wrinkles, kept me warm and dry during a very rainy and windy day at the Cliffs of Moher in Dublin, and still kept me comfortable on windy-but-sunny hikes in Northern Ireland. I live in Florida, and our rainy season tends to be also our hot season, so I usually hate to wear a rain jacket because they make me sweat. But this jacket I find to be breathable enough to not feel gross on a rainy hot Florida day, and the lining also keeps it from feeling plastic-y against my skin. The cut is generous enough that your can add some layers for extra warmth, but not so over-sized to look frumpy.

so sad

I liked the color and quality of the coat. Fabric was a bit noisy, but very disappointed in the size. I am slender and wear a sz 4 and this coat was way too small. I live where winters get to -41F and would definitely wear a warm sweater w/a coat. Would never happen w/this coat

Perfect PNW raincoat

I’ve had this jacket all winter long, and it has kept me dry in cold downpours. The fit is either fitted if you go with your usual size. I chose to go up a size to have some room. It was a little too fitted and I wanted room to layer if needed. The coat has a nice hood, and keeps you completely dry. I’ve worn this commuting by bus and have not had the need to bring an umbrella all winter. Does well in temps in the 30s, and constant downpours. I highly recommend it!

a great winter coat

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought this for someone and she says the sizing is great and is very warm.

Love this winter weather coat

I purchased this coat for the winter wet weather season. It is warm though not overly insulated so it is great for outdoor activities. Extremely waterproof and covers down to mid thigh.

Classy Goodness

I can't tell you how much I love this coat. It is attractive and fitted and the color (I have the flag red) is vibrant and beautiful.

I live a pretty active lifestyle day-to-day, and this jacket keeps up with me really well, but it's also perfect to throw on with a dress if I need to get fancy for whatever reason. I get compliments on it all the time. It's not warm enough to wear without layering on a cold Utah day, and the fabric is noisy, but it protects against water like mad, and the design holds its own.

By the way, I have a booty and hips and I was worried I wouldn't be able to zip this jacket up, but the bottoms flairs and the hem isn't tight. Hip, hip!

Overall, I love it.

Trim color not as pictured on red jacket

  • Fit: True to size

I live in the rainy Pacific NW and have been looking for this coat since I tried it on last year. The insulation gives some warmth, it looks stylish and not bulky. I was waiting until I found the jacket in the red that I instantly loved. The red is a nice true red, but the zipper trim color is not as pictured on backcountry's website and it just doesn't look the same. The zipper is actually red, to match the coat, and the trim is navy blue. There is no white on the trim, and it just doesn't look right to me. I might prefer the aesthetics of one of the other colors.

Great Football Spectator Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I am 5'6" tall and weigh about 125 lbs. I have an extremely lean, athletic frame, and I purchased this jacket in an XS. The fit is true-to-size. The product description indicates the fit is "regular," but I would describe it more as an athletic fit. I am able to layer a bit underneath, but the waist is more defined and less-boxy than my outer garments that are regular fit. I have long arms, so the arms appear a bit short on me. I have worn this jacket mostly to run errands in on cold, rainy days, and while spectating my sons' football games. It has kept me warm and dry during hours' long exposure to blustery weather. It covers my butt when I am sitting on bleacher seats, and it has lots of useful pockets that I like. Not only is there a chest pocket, but there is an arm pocket and two hand pockets at the waist. All pockets can be secured by either zipper or Velcro, which is also a nice feature. This is a stylish, good-quality jacket!
