From blizzards to bluebirds.

It’s easy to make excuses not to go skiing—it’s too cold, it’s too windy, the visibility sucks, the snow is too wet. But in Helly Hansen Women’s Kvitegga Shell Jacket, all of those excuses are void. No matter the weather, snow conditions, or how badly you want to whine about something, the Kvitegga is a key that opens the door to solo runs in a normally packed resort, getting first, second, and third tracks on the backcountry’s boldest lines, and viral-worthy footage of your best park laps.

The Helly Tech Professional fully waterproof shell bestows complete confidence in the face of the toughest winter elements. Complete with unbeatable breathability and underarm vents, you’re free to work up a sweat bootpacking up the mountain’s summit without worrying about freezing over at the bottom. When you’re waist deep in the good stuff, keep the snow from sneaking up your sleeves with the wrist gaiters and adjustable cuffs. The jacket’s high visibility detailing will help your friends keep track of you when the snow is blowing sideways.

But the best part of the Kvitegga has to be its versatility over the course of the season. Once spring has sprung, zip off the powder skirt for better circulation and use the two-way zipper to bring in a fresh breeze. And when you take an unavoidable tumble through the slush, reach for the goggle shammy inside the zippered chest pocket to wipe your eyes dry.

Perfect Shell

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have been looking to upgrade my old insulated resort jacket for a more versatile shell for years now, and I can't believe I didn't do it sooner. This shell is fantastic. Keeps you super warm and dry. Great, flattering fit. And the dope colors are the cherry on top! Highly recommend.

a hell of a shell!

So much great stuff going on in one shell! The material itself is super light and thin- exactly what I wanted. The "glacier" color is a beautiful bright blue and has super fun pink accents that pop out. I could have also worn a small, but I wanted a little more room to layer (I tend to run cooler) and on cold days I put a hooded down puffy underneath and could not be happier. The length hits right below my hips in the front and the little bit of a longer jacket tail covers my bum in the back- great for sitting on chilly chairlifts!
In terms of features, there are nice long pit zips for great temperature control on the slopes. I especially like the wide velco on the adjustable cuffs so I can make changes without ever having to take off my mittens. Win! I've found the life pocket to be effective- my phone hasn't died once since I started keeping it in there. I will note that there isn't a headphone cord port into the life pocket, but there are so many wireless headphones these days. Also, this jacket comes with a FREE LIFT TICKET to one of several resorts, courtesy of Helly Hansen's Ski Free program.
Love this shell!

Just received this jacket today and disappointed with Helly Hansen is an understatement. For $375 I was expecting a lot more out of this jacket. It is very thin, the vents have no mesh, and will have to wear many layers beneath it if I do decide to keep it and wear it skiing. The "life pocket" is also very thin and doubt it will protect any electronic from the cold. This is more of a rain jacket than a durable ski shell. There are plenty of other companies that make a much better ski coat at half the price, I will stick with my $150 Oakley ski jacket.

Hey Hayley! I'm sorry you had a bad experience with that shell! But were you wanting an insulated jacket? Or shell? Because it sounds like you thought this was an insulated jacket, which it unfortunately isn't. Its a waterproof shell that you wear layers underneath. If you would like some assistance with exchanging that shell jacket for an insulated jacket, I'd be happy to help out! Just give me a shout!

This is an incredible shell jacket. The fact that you would rate one star tells me you didn’t do your homework before purchasing. This is a wind proof, waterproof SHELL, not an insulated jacket.
