Fully adjustable, fully comfortable.

Pack a weekend's worth of camping supplies in Granite Gear's Lutsen 45 Backpack and hike into the woods comfortably. Its Re-Fit Air Current suspension system uses dual-density padding with ventilated slits for circulated airflow, and Re-Fit adjusts the shoulder straps and hip belt both vertically and horizontally for a customized fit. Granite Gear made this pack out of durable-yet-light ripstop with a DWR treatment for reliable resistance against rain.

The Lutsen is a traditional top loader with a detachable top lid that doubles as a day pack for short hikes away from the campsite. There's a hydration sleeve inside the backpack with a port for your reservoir's tube. The bottom gear loops adjust to secure trekking poles. Granite Gear added two stretchy side pockets for water bottles, a stretchy front pocket for layers, and two zippered hip belt pockets, one of which has extreme water-resistance to protect electronics.

Great Weekend Pack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was looking for a weekend pack and the Lutsen 45 Pack was available as a closeout special. The reviews were pretty good on it, especially the adjustability. I often do quick weekend getaways with minimal needs. This pack is perfect for this. It accommodates gear , food, water and a few comfort items easily, but also packs down and can be used as a overnighter, or even day pack in a pinch. The roll top closure, while providing a good weather seal, is probably not for everyone, especially if you are used to side access. It forces you to put some thought into how you pack your gear. There are two side stretch pockets that I have been using for my water bottle and trekking poles. The large stretch pocket on the back is very versatile and great for rain or cool weather gear. The adjustability of the pack is very good and really lets you dial it in for a very custom fit. The little pockets on the hip belt are also extremely handy. The pack seems pretty well built, except maybe for the stretch pockets, time will tell. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase, and hope to get many years of use out of the pack.

    How to Measure:
To find your torso length, measure the distance between your seventh cervical vertebra and the crest of your hipbones. Do this by standing up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Tilt your head forward and place your hands on your hips, thumbs to the back and level with your hip crest. With a flexible tape, have someone measure from the most prominent vertebra at the base of your neck to an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs. This will be your torso length.
