C7 Gore-Tex Shakedry Stretch Jacket

Gore Wear designed the Men's C7 Gore-Tex Shakedry Stretch Jacket with a sleek, body-hugging design, combined with Gore-Tex's Shakedry technology, which proves an impenetrable barrier from heavy rainfall and whipping winds. Instead of restricting motion with its form-fitting design, Gore Wear uses strategically engineered stretch panels with a honeycomb-like structure that conforms to your every move. Not only does it fit tightly like a race jersey and stretch where essential, but it benefits from a dropped rear hem that keeps flinging moisture from spraying your backside, especially when you're in the drops.

Sitting at the heart and center of this waterproof jacket, Gore-Tex Shakedry repels heavy showers and thunderstorms from ruining daily rides and training sessions. What makes this technology stand out is the removal of a traditional jacket's face fabric, instead placing the waterproof, breathable membrane on the outside of the jacket. This way, the jacket will continue to bead off moisture as you ride through the rain, no matter how long your ride takes you in foul weather. Another benefit, Shakedry construction remains highly breathable, so you don't overheat or soak in heavy perspiration from the inside-out.

  • Protective rain jacket that fits like a second skin
  • Form-fitting with strategically placed stretch panels
  • Gore-Tex Shakedry never wets out, even in hours of rain
  • Shakedry remains durably waterproof and highly breathable
  • Dropped rear hem protects your back from flinging moisture
  • Compactly folds into your rear jersey pocket on the road
  • Zippered rear pocket for essentials and everyday items
  • Reflective logos along arms and reflective rear accents

Worth the sale price!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I don’t really ride in the rain, but I prefer a separate wind block piece with an insulated piece vs. a hybrid.jacket.

Great jacket...if I could zip it up

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: L

This jacket performs as advertised...waterproof and breathable and I love that I can just "shake it out" and hang it up. However, after ~6 rides, while making a descent on a soupy, foggy, cold morning, I could not get the jacket to zip. At first, I chalked it up to cold hands and trying to zip it up while riding, but stopped and still could not get the zipper up easily. After the ride, warming up, and trying again, same/same...it takes about 4-5 attempts to get it "just right" to zip up. Definitely not the performance I expect from a product of this price.

The best rain jacket you'll ever buy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

I've had many different cycling rain jackets, and nothing tops this. Waterproof and actually breathable--I am not soaking wet every time I wear it. It is featherweight, and I imagine it might get scratched and possibly ripped up on a MTB ride through tight vegetation, but on the gravel bike it is perfect. It also served as a winter shell with a Castelli Puro and a long underwear top underneath. It works great as a wind breaker for long mountain descents after a long sweaty climb, and packs up easily when you don't need to wear it. I got an XL to leave room for layering in the winter; I could have gotten away with a L. Durability is TBD. If you can get it on sale, so much the better.

The last rain jacket you’ll ever buy.

  • Fit: True to size

I’ve bought a lot of cycling rain jackets over the years. They’ve been either marginally able to repel rain, not a good fit, or heavy and unbreathable. Should have bought this one long ago. Fits great for my tall, slim physique (6 ft 2, 150 lbs), is light and easily packable in a jersey pocket, and it breathes quite well for being completely water proof.

Really really good

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought on a whim, because I have a raging man-crush on Fabian Cancellara and he was wearing it so I had to have it. Have had Gore stuff in the past and had not been impressed with fit or function (despite fabric being obviously exceptional). They have finally sorted this out. This jacket fits PERFECTLY. Short in the front (so doesn't bunch up and chafe when you're in a riding postion) and nice and long in the back for great spray protection.
It's sleek and fitted, warm, very waterproof and breathes as well as a waterproof layer can. Be careful what you layer under it to avoid greenhouse effect. In all though, a very warm, well fitted, well made, lightweight and low-mass jacket. This packs down smaller than anything else in its class. I worry about cutting the fabric as it's paper thing but so far so good, very impressed. Fits true to size and well worth the price tag.

Actually Waterproof

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

The first day I rode this it was pouring rain, hail and snow. Crazy weather conditions I've ever rode my bike and I don't recommend it to anyone. I do on the other hand recommend this jacket, I stayed completely dry shook it off and went into the restaurant for lunch. Amazing.

Then the other day I warmed up in the jacket, took it off and packed it into its storage pocket. Placed it in my jersey pocket and raced my bike! The added Gore Tex stretch panels make this jacket fit perfectly and are still totally waterproof.

Buy this jacket now. It is worth it.

Great Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Extra Large

Definitely a must have if you ride in any condition. The Shakedry keeps you dry when it is wet outside. With the new stretch fabric this version has a better fit than than previous ones. Definitely more of a race fit and less material flapping in the wind. I find that it fits true to size based on the sizing chart. If you want it to fit looser size up. Great added feature is that it folds up into the rear pocket for easy storing on a ride.

The Future Is Here

This jacket is amazing.. first off the shakedry material is phenomenal, its exactly what it sounds like and if you have never experienced it you need to. This material is created to repel water, not coated or covered with some water repelling substance so unlike many DWR coatings this will never ever wear off or lose its ability to be waterproof. Secondly the stretch parts are also 100% waterproof (the army/military had gore-tex develop the stretch parts for wearing under bulletproof vests so you know it must be durable), and after learning about how many models were created to make sure the stretch areas were placed in the right areas (somewhere like 15 jackets with different variations of stretch in different places) this final result is AMAZING. I have long arms and have to deal with almost every jacket exposing my wrists as I reach for the bars. With this it stays put. Lastly this thing is ULTRA LIGHT and stuffs into its own pocket quite easily. I get its pricey, but when you add together a 100% waterproof jacket with superb breathability, gore windstopper, ultra lightweigh/packability features and a flawless fit? Well im in. Get ready to pack the features of 3-4 jackets into one. Like I said, this is the future of jacket technology.

I am 6'1'' and 170 ish and needed a large. In this same build with a smaller chest/torso I could fit a medium but I found it too snug in the armpits.. So if you are a more slender build shoot for a M. A bit larger build in the chest/arms go L. (This is not me in the photo)

Sizing for Lady Riders

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

This model is a men's jacket however it can fit women too! I am 5' 5" and normally wear a medium in a jacket and a small in jerseys. However, I wear a Large in their Women's Shakedry Jacket and in their Women's Jersey's I wear a medium. With all of that being said I got the small men's Shakedry Stretch Jacket as that was the best fit around the waist where it wasn't too loose. The jersey fits great around the waist but has a little extra room around the shoulders. I have noticed in their women specific items I have to go up a size as they run small. However when buying the men's model it fit's true to size.

Very Nice Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Very impressed with the fit and finish of this piece. I am very particular about riding gear/kit and this passes the test. Fits true to size, doesn't restrict movement, breathes well, keeps out the colds and water, and is great all-around. Descended a very wet downhill in a surprise snow storm in this after riding the previous hour in the rain, torso stayed dry and warm the entire ride. 5 stars, would recommend.

Dry and light

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I wore the Gore C7 Gore Tex Shakedry yesterday during a Spring snow / rain storm and was SUPER impressed. My core stayed warm and dry while descending at 40mph in wet, sleety snow (wish I could say the same about my hands and face ...). More impressive, I didn't overheat on the climb up. The shakedry fabric kept the water out while breathing extremely well.

Fit: Basically true to size. Maybe runs slightly large. I'm 6' 1", 180lbs with a 39-40" chest and long arms. The Large fit perfectly. I also tried on a medium, but it was too tight in the chest.

The piece is very thin and packable and stows easily in a jersey pocket. If you have it on for a long time, it also has an ample, single zipper pocket on the back.

All in all, very happy with it.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Arm Length:
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
