GiroHex Helmet

A hex on your head is a good thing.

As evidenced by the Giro Hex Helmet, protection doesn’t have to break the bank. The Hex is the ideal all-mountain helmet with protection and comfort rolled into one package. To start, Giro’s In-Mold construction uses a hard, polycarbonate shell fused to an EPS liner to provide protection from impact. It wraps around lower at the back to protect the occipital bones and then rises at the sides to provide open sight lines.

To keep your head cool on the long uphill hauls, the Hex has 21 large vents that create an effective wind tunnel through the helmet. The P.O.V. visor is adjustable, sans tools, for optimal protection from harsh sunlight. Using the RocLoc 5 adjustment system, you’re able to adjust the Hex’s fit both horizontally and vertically, on the fly if necessary.

Light and breathable

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

Great fitting with great ventilation makes for a great all-around helmet. The dial in the back allows you to really get the best fit. Gift recipients feel that this is a great helmet for the money and will keep them safe on all their cycling adventures.

A great mountain bike helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great, lightweight mountain biking helmet. The vents are awesome for riding in super hot weather. I use the adjustment system in the back quite a bit, depending on the temperature, so I can wear the helmet on its own or layer something under it for a little extra warmth. I would say it fits pretty true to size; I wear a medium. I've used it mostly on rides around Park City for about 1-3 hours and have been really happy with it so far.
Last time I went riding I got in the car and almost drove home with it on because it's so comfortable I forgot I was wearing it! It isn't the fanciest helmet on the market but it does everything I need. Plus, it comes in super fun colors-- I got the purple one and it makes me smile every time I wear it.

Great Helmet

I gave this as a gift and their feedback was that it is a light helmet and fits extremely comfortable.

It's light and simple. Nothing fancy - it does its job!

Giro Hex - Good so far!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've worn the helmet a couple times now and I'm happy so far! Really comfortable and fits well, don't even the notice the helmet as I'm riding.

Great helmet at a reasonable price point.

Fits well, affordable, but will fade

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used this helmet for a month in the Arizona and Utah sun and the color faded (orange). Now the helmet is lighter than the visor. Not a huge deal, but that's why I knocked off one star.

The helmet fits well and is secure. I haven't had the bad luck to impact test it...yet.

Lightish Duty MTB Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Value oriented (on sale) helmet that fits well if you like the Giro fit. It has slightly more coverage and beef than a road helmet, which this replaced (also Giro - no helmet will last forever). Venting is pretty good b/c of the huge channels (added bonus of Rufio hair after the ride). If you want more coverage there are better options as others have mentioned, but if you want a cross-country oriented helmet this is pretty good and doesn't cost a ton.

great helmet

I really like this helmet. I was worried a small would be too small but it fits perfectly and I am able to adjust it if I have my hair in a braid. Its very lightweight and a great helmet all around.

Is the visor removable?

Great fit/outdated design

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

the helmet is great but really doesn't cut it for anything all mountain. If you're looking for an all mountain lid, look at the giro chronicle or montera.

Great fit, look, and price!

wish the straps fit a little better where they come together under the ear, they don't lay flat. Other than that its a solid helmet.

Great fit, look, and price!

Bike Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a bike helmet. As bland as that sounds, it's pretty much all you need to know about the Hex helmet. It's light, comfortable, fits well, breathes well, and won't break the bank. Sure, it doesn't look as cool as the latest Troy Lee design, but I want my helmet to be an essential piece of gear, not a fashion statement. Put it on, forget about it, and go for a ride.

Great fit, super ventillation

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love my Giro Hex helmet.
The colors are super fun, and the helmet fits comfortably with great ventilation. I've always used a POC Trabec, but find that my head gets really hot in the summer, and this was a great alternative that looks the way I want it to look, keeps my head safe, and keeps me cool. The price is pretty hard to beat as well!

Fits great!

I like how it stays on my head. It's lightweight, looks good aside from the color (i got the color that was on sale) and it was nice while riding off road in some pretty rough stuff. It's much better than my old helmet.

That's wearing the helmet.

Solid helmet

This helmet has great fit and ventilation. I live in Phoenix, where I expect something that's not going to let my head overheat and this does the trick. My boyfriend tried out my size S helmet a couple times and loved it, so he bought his own. He ended up buying his normal size M, to give you an idea of the overlap in sizes accommodated by the RocLoc system. The helmet's adjustability makes it feel very secure yet comfortable. Really can't beat this for the price!

I got this helmet as a gift for my boyfriend, who has a hard time finding helmets because his head is pretty large. The XL fit him perfectly, and he says it's comfortable, has great ventilation, and feels safe and secure

Comfy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this as a gift for my dad after hearing great things. He loves it! He said that it fits his big noggin and is true to the sizing chart. He likes how lightweight it is and the large vents make it nice and cool for a summer ride. He recommends this helmet to anyone looking for a quality helmet at a fair price. Two thumbs up!

Maybe not my style?

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I grew up with freestyle bmx and skateboarding helmets like the old pro-tec. They would cup your head and feel almost glued on. I did not get the comfort and protection feel I wanted out of this helmet so I ordered something more familiar. I was using this for full suspension mountain biking xc and downhill.

Don't go cloggin' your noggin

Its so stylish and comfortable I forget I'm wearing it until I try to lather in some shampoo.
