Wreak it.

An aggressive bermed turn, a perfectly executed jump, or a speedy series of switchbacks might make you feel like an enduro rockstar from time to time, but a boulder-strewn rock garden and a few slick corners beside a cliff send you straight back to inner monologues of panic. That's okay. Race through the good, the bad, and the ugly in the Giro Havoc Short, and this enduro-specific short will keep up every step of the way.

Built with rugged four-way stretch fabric and topped off with a DWR treatment, the Havoc will handle big drops, fast courses, and the occasional blowout with effective tailoring and ample stretch. Giro designed the leg openings to accommodate knee pads when needed, and perforated vents keep air moving on-course, whether you're riding through cool New Zealand drizzle or moon dust on a weeknight race close to home.

  • Leave it all on the course in this rugged MTB short
  • Slim, tailored fit won't bunch or move as you race
  • Four-way stretch fabric is breathable but highly durable
  • DWR treatment helps you stay dry on damp days
  • Perforations keep airflow consistent as you ride
  • Zippered pocket stores a multi-tool or raceday snack
  • Adjustable waist lets you dial in the right fit

Coming up Short

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

DWR waterproofing, Adjustable waist, zippered side pocket what more could you ask for???

Well I’m glad you asked!
True to size I ordered Large for my 34” waist and for the fit I tightened up the outside Velcro straps just a bit for a little more snug feel. The two snap waist band and zipper is nice, but it could do without the small amount of Velcro between the two snaps. I found it to be a bit cumbersome when doing up the snaps and on the initial wash the Velcro stuck to one of my jerseys.

I like the two front pockets, but with no zippers on them I’m afraid to put anything in the pocket for fear it might fly out while riding. There is one zippered pocket on the lower right leg and if you want to toss your phone or keys in there and zip it up it will work great for that. I can’t say if the DWR treatment is up to snuff, but it does repel the dog drool while driving to the trail head.

The Havoc does seem to have a longer inseam than most and while riding with G-Form knee pads I didn’t experience any hang ups or problems while shredding down the hill in. I didn’t notice any other issues while riding either and that’s a good thing! The Havoc shorts will get the job done nicely whether going up, down or sideways during your day.
Overall I like the fit and material but they won’t be the first ones I grab out of my drawer to hit the trails.

Nice shorts, less baggy fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

Well made shorts. Stars for pockets. Don't seem as breathable as advertised. DWR works. Love the adjustable waist. Slim fit. If you like baggy, these are not for you.

Nice shorts!

  • Fit: True to size

I decided to try these after a few other pairs of shorts needed to be retired. I am really happy with them so far. The perforated knees allow air to still move through the short and will keep you cool. The inseam is a bit longer than most, but great if you wear kneepads, as you will never have your shorts riding up above your pad. I would recommend pick a pair up.
