The coolest way to climb through the heat.

Giordana designed the lightweight Sahara Jersey to keep you as cool as possible during scorching summer climbs. The Sahara is an airy jersey with optimal ventilation; it features highly breathable mesh on the shoulders and sleeves, and weighs-in at a feathery 90g. Giordana uses a woven ceramic material on the front and back of the jersey, which shields you from harmful UV rays and provides anti-odor properties. To ensure you stay comfortable, the sleeve cuffs are finished with a simple turned edge and the soft elastic trim at the waist keeps everything in place. The full-length CamLock zipper allows you to dump heat on the fly, and Giordana includes three rear pockets to store your ride essentials.

Sahara: Oasis of a Jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 3XL

I live in the south where it is hot and humid. On really humid days, this jersey has slowly climbed the pecking order of my summer jerseys. It's ultra light and with the mesh pit panels I've noticed enough of a difference over many of my other jerseys that it has a performance edge in keeping me cooler. Sahara is an aptly named jersey.

Two things to note. Even though Giordana sizing claims I should wear a Large, most of my Giordano jerseys I purchase are 2XL and are snug. I had to go with a 3XL on the Sahara and it's almost a race fit-- really tight. But it works so well. If you're a "tight ain't right" sort of rider, then this might not be the jersey for you unless you can upsize significantly.

The only thing I'm concerned with about this jersey is the lifespan of the mesh armpit vents. I'm not inferring that they are fragile, but I'm honestly not sure how many years to expect out of this jersey. I take really good care of my gear but I find myself handling this jersey a bit with kid gloves, especially when laundering it.

That being said when the humidity is high this is my "go to" jersey for extremely hot rides.

Run VERY small

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

These jerseys run VERY small, and aren't well proportioned for a tall person.
I'm 6'1", and weigh about 155 pounds. I purchased a medium. No matter what shorts i have on, this jersey come up way too far in the front leaving my stomach exposed. It's a shame because tightness was a good balance of not skin tight and not billow-y. Nice print; was excited for the technical fabric...but it got returned without replacement

The fit was so off i'm not going to bother sizing up. By the time i get to a good length, it's going to be wayyy too baggy. If you're pretty short, this might be a good jersey for you.

  • Fit: True to size

This jersey is my favorite after a couple of rides. I'm an older rider who doesn't care for race fit. The xxl fits me perfect to my taste. Whatever I do when I ride my left sleeve ends up high, and my right sleeve is almost to my elbow. The Sahara stayed perfectly in place. I wanted to see what a higher priced jersey was like. Not disappointed with the Sahara. And, thanks to the chat people. I pestered them regularly deciding what to buy.

Perfect for Texas Summer!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Beautiful, light & breathable jersey with a race fit, which means that nothing flaps around. As with any European cut I had to size up to an XL. I got the White/Fluo which plays well with the intense Texas Sun and adds an element of visibility for safety.

The materials used are really top notch, the sleeves are a tad longer than most jerseys I own, but very comfortable nonetheless. My only gripe is the ultra breathable and venting honeycomb paneling which is quite delicate. Yes it keeps you cooler and feels weightless, but I just noticed a tiny snag on the upper back-side. I doubt it was inflicted by me as I only have one 80mile session in it. I honestly think it came in that way and I missed it during inspection. I would definitely recommend hand washing this jersey.

All in all a fantastic jersey and looks amazing when paired with the Silverline bibs with matching leg band.

Please characterize the fit. Racing? Relaxed? How does the fit compare to the Giordano Lungo?

Race fit. No flapping in the breeze
