Light is right.

The idea of lighter climbing skins might seem silly when you're sitting in front of a computer, but you'd rip all your hair out on a steep skintrack to save some weight if it would make those steep skintracks easier to get up. The Alpinist LT Mohair Climbing Skins are the new lightest and most compact option from G3, and they are certainly a better option than a bald head. A full mohair construction makes the Alpinist a better glider on long traverses, and it packs better than most mohair skins. Both connectors at tip and tail are low-profile to not interfere with your skinning, and they're surprisingly easy to use with big gloves on.

I just bought these in size Medium (130mm) for 178mm Voile V6s. The skin instructions say minimum 2" distance from tail to skin; these have 9" tail to skin and a lot of ski base seems exposed. Are these the correct length? I have not cut them yet.
