Fox RacingProframe Helmet

Face facts.

As much as we'd like to, we all can't be a part of the Atherton family. While their smooth, speed-hungry gene pool will always amaze and forever elude us, we can put our own mediocre genes to work on rough and rowdy DH trails knowing our grey matter's protected with Fox Racing's ultralight, MIPS-equipped Proframe Helmet. Don't be surprised if it inspires you to send a little harder, whether in your own backyard or deep in the Welsh countryside.

As the lightest DH lid ever made by Fox, the Proframe comes with the same full-face, fixed visor protection of a classic DH bucket—albeit in a more streamlined design that won't leave you with your head hanging after an all-day ride. Its low weight means that even if you ride more towards the enduro end of the spectrum, you won't sacrifice time in a race for upgrading to DH-level protection. Fox also punches 24 Big Bore vents into the Proframe's shell, making sure you don't feel like you're trying to ride in an astronaut helmet when you're grinding it out on a long, rocky ridge climb before a serpentine descent.

  • Ride with full DH protection without the bulk
  • Dual-density Varizorb EPS broadly distributes impact
  • MIPS inner basket helps disperse rotational energy
  • Fixed visor and chin bar provide protection with airflow
  • 15 intake and 9 exhaust vents keep air moving continuously
  • Fidlock SNAP buckle made to be operated with gloves

Lightweight and doesn't feel like you're wearing a full face. oh yeah it also has mips, what more could you want in a helmet?

Lightweight

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I brought this helmet to ride enduro style/mellower DH trail and feel like it's the perfect helmet. I would highly recommend this helmet as a lightweight option for people who want to rip tech trails and go somewhat big on jumps. If you're going to be dropping huge drops or hitting large gaps, I would recommend a different helmet.

Airy and light!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I've worn a large in most helmets and the large worked well here too. It comes with multiple pads in 3 thickness so you can have a "small" temple with a large neck area, etc.

Pads were easy to swap but I haven't laundered them yet, that's when you really know.

My only gripes are the acoustics and finish. The helmet is super loud when you go through branches, leaves, etc it's like having your head in a snare drum. The finish is not lasting so long but totally cosmetic.

Awesome!

This helmet is amazing. Great for bike parks and enduro riding

awesome helmet!

it’s light and lots of ventilation i never felt hot while wearing it. my go to lid when i xc, trail, downhill and bmx riding. certainly very satisfied with this helmet. and did i mention it’s a very cool stylish lid?

    awesome helmet!

    Awesome helmet

    • Fit: True to size

This helmet is awesome, best ever. We even made youtube video about the awesome helmet, check out the video on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NGzrIRrE4o

    Lightweight Protection

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Full protection and MIPS technology offers plenty of protection while riding downhill terrain. The oversized vents allow tons of air flow, keeping you comfortable while pedaling on warm days.

This helmet includes multiple pad options to ensure you get the perfect fit; with a thick, medium, and thin thickness.

I would recommend this helmet to anyone looking for a lightweight and protective helmet.

    Cool and Comfy

This is a rad helmet. The stylish good looks are a happy bonus! It has excellent ventilation, DH rated, and is confidence inspiring. It fits true to size and has 3 different sizes of cheek pads to better fit the shape of your melon.

      Love

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This Helmet rocks! Super lightweight and comes with a lot of different sized pads to dial in the fit. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a lightweight full face that they wouldn't be upset about pedaling a couple miles in.

      Want it to fit

This helmet looks awesome, and I really wanted it to work for enduro racing -- but the lack of an adjustable system didn't work for me. The pads weren't thick enough to offer stable support in the helmet. Sadly had to return it and find another enduro lid.

Why didn't you try a smaller size? Not the helmets fault you bought the wrong size.

Don't be fooled THIS IS not a DH Helmet

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Just to be clear I'm a 30yr DH Veteran NOT a beginner. i ride +- 120 days a year, Make no mistake this is NOT a DH helmet I was involved in a low speed impact >18mph, The helmet failed catastrophically leaving me unconscious for roughly 2 1/2 hours, I woke up in the hospital.

Where was the impact? If it was the chinbar and it failed could you post some pictures of the helmet somewhere? From what I’ve seen in (non-scientific) tests, is that the ProFrame chinbar holds up the best out of these light weight full face helmets. I’ve seen pictures of other brands with broken chinbars from crashes, but I haven’t seen any of the ProFrame. (I don’t disagree that this is no a substitute for a full DH helmet.)

        Really comfortable, but less adjustable

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I haven't gotten to wear it yet as I bought it just as winter was arriving, but the helmet feels extremely light and comfortable. I just wish it had a better way to adjust the fit, as I feel like the Medium is just barely too big in its standard position, but using the larger pads makes it feel too tight. I've never worn a DH helmet before though (unless you count a dirt bike helmet), so I just may be unfamiliar with their design.

The pads " break in " so, tight today means perfect tommorow.

        Best gear ever!!!

Well vented & light helmet to substitute my trail helmet,it saved my face from my 1st wipeout...Thank God for Fox Proframe. And matches all my kit.

        Best gear ever!!!

        Goooooood!

          Perfect helmet world best

Great helmet, poor fit for giant heads

          • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I really wanted to love it, but it lacked an adjustable fit system which left the MIPS liner digging into my giant cranium and causing massive irritation, even in the XL size. Tried all the pad adjustments and some more creative options, but it just kept sucking. Frankly, it seems like a huge oversight in a $240 helmet.
Otherwise, the helmet is super breathable and bombproof. If it fits, seems like a great option. I went with the Giro Switchblade which is also DH rated, has a removable chin bar, and is much more comfortable in size L. And after a couple of rides, I have found that with some pad adjustments it's not as hot as a lot of reviewers complain.

I am Korean. Head circumference 60cm.
Rampage Carbon helmet xl size I bought.
The pro frame should buy Large, but should I buy Xlarge?

Unfortunately the size chart CC has is not for the Proframe. I have a Large and has a sticker inside that sasy 58-61cm. It comes with different pads to make the helmet adjust to different head sizes. The Fox website lists the sizes in inches, here they are:

          s20.5" - 22" m 22" - 23.25" L 23.25" - 23.75" xl 23.75" - 25.25"

But if you convert them to cm the L is 59-60cm. But my Large has a sticker that says 58-61. If I were you, I'd go with the XL to start because the size chart would put you at an XL.

People call me Darth Vader in this helmet. Too bad they only had black.

Best DH helmet I have had.

As a DH racer who has gone through helmets each year this one will stick around. Light and the venting is stupid awesome. Never hot, went down at Trestle and again at Steamboat this year on some Double Black shit and the helmet did its job. Also have had a buddy who smoked a rock after going airborne and his head was fine.

          Great so far

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love it so far. I do not always need a full face, but the proframe is light, cheaper, and more airflow then anything else.

When are you going to have blue or teal colors available in medium size?
