Great jacket, but..,

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

This is a fantastic, tough, great ski jacket....

BUT.....

If you are looking for a jacket that is going to keep you warm by itself, this is not it. It really has no insulation whatsoever, this jacket is meant to be worn with multiple layers. I understand the purpose of jackets like this and most people will say, "yeah its a shell jacket, its suppose to be thin." I understand that, im just saying this so other people who are interested will know prior to purchase.

Just what I was looking for

I bought this for my boyfriend for a ski shell and he loves it! "I love this jacket! It is still pretty lightweight and has great features! (powder skirt, underarm vents, great amount of pockets) The material has held up well in wet and cold conditions. I have paired it with the Baker Bibs. I have skied deep powder, and it was snow proof! Nothing seeped in! Great jacket for the resort or touring. "

Sizing is Whack

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: M

Bomb jacket. The only problem is that I'm 6'0" and weigh 160 pounds. This is a really common body type, especially for the young skier demographic. The medium is cut to fit someone who is 5'9" with the shoulders of ballet dancer while the large is cut for someone who is 6'5" and weighs 225. The medium severely restricted my shoulder movement and the sleeves were too short. The large, which I kept, is perfect in the shoulders and then... doesn't taper. It looks like a dress and the only adjustment is the cord around the skirt which exacerbates the fact that it looks like a dress on me. I will be selling it to one of my former-football-player friends in the offseason. Huge disappointment.

Favorite Shell

This will be my second season on this jacket and couldn't be happier. The shell material is burly without being super heavy. I've worn it in snow and rain, and the three layer material has never soaked through, very rad! The style is great and offers a relaxed fit that is really easy to pile on the layers for the coldest days.

Just the best

Dont look any further for a jacket. This thing is awesome and is made like a tank. It also doesnt hurt that it is one of the best looking jackets it the game!

This new Quantum Jacket rocks. The new material is lighter but feels tougher then my last Quantum. The face fabric is also a touch finer (smaller weave or thread?) so it is repelling water better too. In the end this coat can do it all for me. Backcountry, resort, pull the skirt and it is my rain coat...

I really wanted to like it but . . .

  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Medium and Large

Construction, features, durability seemed awesome. They paired, via the skirt, with my FlyLow IQ pants perfectly. I ordered a large and medium size to be sure I'd get one that fit, however, the sizing is somewhat bizarre and both had to go back as being way to big.

The medium (I'm a 41" chest/31" waist) was perfect in the shoulders and arm length, but I could have stuffed 2 pillows around my middle. It's defiantly not an athletic cut which is surprising because the IQ pants fit perfectly.

I assume the S is going to be too small so I need to look elsewhere.

Light Jacket, Thin material

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

New jacket used 12 times this past season. Good jacket. Light shell good for warm days or for layering for cold days. My only complaint is the material. Under the backpack shoulder straps the material is pilling like a cheap bathing suit. Not as durable as my previous Arcteryx of ten years which has 150+ days of use.

Coats

I like the coat haven't had it for very long but it fits great and so far has kept me warm and dry. so far so good but time will tell

Such a sick jacket!

This jacket is soo rad! I'm on my 3rd season with this jacket and close to 200 days on the mountain, with most of them touring days. I can't believe that there are no tears in the fabric after so many days. It still keeps me dry when it's nuking snow even though I've never given it any additional waterproofing treatments. The loud zipper hits give the jacket a subtle pop and it has a slightly longer fit, which as a snowboarder, I can totally dig. Wish I could remember how many compliments I've gotten on this jacket over the years and I'm stoked that it's still in great shape!

Go to Jacket

This has been my go to jacket for the past 3 years. I absolutely love it for many reasons. First off the cut has changed to be longer in the torso which is a huge upgrade for Flylow. The material is top notch. I've been in a spring storm that turned to rain and a full downpour and can honestly say that I've never been wet.

The jacket is really lightweight, but can take an absolute beating . I've run it through broken branches in tight trees, countless hikes while shouldering my skis, and also 60 plus days and year and have done so without any tears in the fabric. The zippers are great and definitely do NOT let any water in.

Plus the hood is definitely big enough for helmets. I also love how the jack now buttons into the pants in addition to the standard zip out powder skirt. You can't go wrong with this jacket.

Solid Jacket

The Quantum Pro Jacket is definitely the best jacket i've ever owned. The big vents keep you cool on quick hikes in bounds, but also on longer hikes in the backcountry. The amount of pockets are also a great feature, and makes it easy to store your skins. Overall I have never had any issues and this jacket has always kept me dry no matter what the weather.

in a nut SHELL

I haven't got the chance to use this jacket a lot but I have used it for some June skiing in Glacier park and I was glad to have it. I got some nasty wind and some pretty serious rain and it kept it all out. I do wish that this jacket had a bit more venting for the climb up. Other than that I don't have any complaints, the jacket looks good and feels comfortable and high quality. As far as the fit goes I think it is pretty true to size. The jacket isn't baggy and loose but does have a relaxed fit. If you are comfortable with more snug fitting jackets like a Mammut jacket you might want to order a size down.

Cool jacket

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: medium

I can't give real user feedback because I returned it before using it. Just wanted to say it looks really good, the attention to detail is awesome, but it runs large even given the fact it's a shell. (I'm 5'10, 160 lbs, medium build, and usually wear 31" pants, and 39" jackets when I can.) I was at the smaller end of the recommended size, but I was swimming in this. Long in the sleeves & body (fingers barely making it out of the sleeves, and the body of the jacket dropping to about crotch / inseam level). I'm planning on going back and getting a small and using as a multi-purpose jacket.

Super protection in feather light shell

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Quantum Jacket is just a superb piece and a nice step up from the Higgins. Most notable is its incredible lightness while maintaining every bit of warmth and protection. You hardly notice you have this jacket on, and while it is also a 3L, 20k/20k fabric, it is an upgraded Dobby Intuitive and has noticeably superior breathability. It also addresses our gripe with the Higgins by having two chest pockets and adds a nice removable powder skirt. And new for the 14/15 season is an additional wrist pocket which is great to get to your emergency whistle when stuck in a tree well!

preseason blizzard test

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

got mine in the mail about a week ago, after reading ravin' reviews and saw that the fabric had been updated and made lighter than years past quantums, i had to pick one up. anyways, went hiking behind a-basin the other weekend and brought my new quantum. it rained the whole way up and once we summited, it turned into full on blizzard. so pumped i had my quantum, the 3 layer 20k/20k fabric kept everything out. i was the only in the group still smiling at the summit, if the quantum can handle 5hrs in the rain/sleet/snow... there is no doubt in my mind that this jacket will be bomb proof this winter. havent even skied in it yet and already my favorite ski jacket.
