A burly down jacket tough enough for the tundra.

Fjallraven, a Swedish company, has been turning out quality outdoor goods since 1960; the Men's Greenland Down Jacket was introduced in 1968 as part of the tradition of tough, durable, and highly-functional gear built for cold and wet mountain climates. The G-1000 Original fabric has a weather-resistant wax treatment that makes the fabric virtually windproof and water-resistant, and that naturally repels mosquitoes and other insects. The Greenland is filled with 500-fill down for warmth and insulation that won't weigh you down, and this puffy features a 2-way zipper with placket cover and press buttons.

Super warm, runs large.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Small

I am consistently a medium (even in other Fjallraven jackets) and I ended up with a small. Its not like they left room for layering, it was too large all around. It’s a really warm jacket with lots of pockets. Not a slim looking coat for sure but if it’s reallt cold out, this is my go-to. Probably too warm for temps over 40F degrees. If you’re looking for a stylish, warm, durable coat this is a great option. I took off a star for the wonky sizing but there’s really nothing else wrong with this thing.

Thanks for the helpful review. Any thoughts on how the jacket fares in rainy weather?

Sizing is way off

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: L

Got this jacket in a L and it was at least two sizes too big. Size down for sure.

Irregular sizing

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Small

We have several Fjallraven coats and the sizing is very irregular. We've had to return many of them because they run very large. My 6ft tall son, who is 180lbs and typically wears a Medium had to return the Small for this coat. It feels more like a Large. It's a pity. The coat is very nice but the frame is huge overall. This is the third coat we've had to return. The Greenland No. 1 coat seems to be the only one that runs true.

Winter family weekends

prompt at what temperature it is designed? at which the red I will not be cold?

This is great for cold & wet mountain temps, no specific temperature rating is given. What kind of activities are you looking to do?

Where is this coat made?

Hey Elizabete - This Greenland Down Jacket and most Fjallraven products are made primarily in China. Their Numbers collection (anything with a No. in the name) is nearly all made in Europe in small factories. Check out the Fjallraven Greenland No. 1 Down Jacket for example (Item #FJR001K). Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

Runs large

I am 6'0" 180lbs with a 40/40 long suit size and the medium absolutely drowned me on all fronts: arms a bit too long, shoulders and chest very roomy. Granted, I preferred slim fitting/tailored items and I get the sense this parka is meant to allow layering. Overall, I really wanted to like the parka, but the fit just didn't work for me. Quality and style were top notch and I wish it had fit

I'm 6'0 and 210. Do you think a large would be too big?

Pauly, I bet the medium would work well depending on your arm length

I am 5'10'', 170 pounds. I live and work in AK and will use this jacket for dog mushing wearing appropriate layers underneath. Will the medium be too big, should i go with the small?
