Four-season favorite.

The Fjallraven Men's Abisko Trail Hooded Fleece Jacket pulls its weight year-round, thanks to a clever design that keeps it light, packable, and most importantly, warm. The chest, hood, and shoulders consist of a flat-knitted fleece with soft brushed lining that offers warmth where it's needed most. Meanwhile, grid-structured fleece at the torso, sides, and lower sleeves shaves weight and enhances compressibility for easier packing and superior ventilation. The result is a lightweight jacket you can wear on cool fall hikes and summer summit pushes, or a cozy mid-layer that can be worn under a shell in winter or stowed in your pack on any outdoor excursion, just in case.

Great for a lightweight layer

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

This is a thin, light weight fleece that is very well built and relative to its thickness and weight, warm. With that said, its not the option you reach for if you need a super warm, heavy fleece for the winter. Its a great layering option or when you need something to keep the chill off in cool weather.

A popular comparable product would be the Patagonia R1 Fleece hoodie. Compared to that, this seems like it might be slightly less warm. The Abisko fleece has a bit slimmer of a cut (which I prefer but may not be for everyone), side pockets (both have a chest pocket/vent), and does not have the elastic on the hood that the R1 has. The R1 has thumb holes vs thumb loops on the Abisko fleece.
I think most people will prefer the R1 over the Abisko. They will like the thumb holes, hood, and slightly more warmth. With that said, I actually prefer the Abisko due to its fit, slightly less warmth (I run really hot), pockets, and full zip allowing for better ventilation options. Both are great and its really fine details between two great lightweight fleece options

Note: I think it runs true to size. I have a crazy small torso and super long limbs so don't think because you are my size and weight that you need something like a small. I'm just a odd with my proportions.

Extremely THIN; barely a layer piece

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

Fit is great (6'3" 150lbs and sleeves are long enough) style is great. But this thing is THIN. I thought the descriptor "fleece" and its overall look meant it would be like a neoprene type feel, and relatively warm by itself for cool evenings and a great mid layer under a coat. I tried wearing it over a tee in low 40s weather, which is considered fairly warm here. I was freezing. See pic of me holding it up to a bathroom light. It's basically see through. No exaggeration, I have some tee shirts that are thicker than this. No insulation or warmth to this piece. The thickest parts are the hood and shoulders and even those are see through. For $140 it's a rip off, Fjällräven or not. Will be returning.

Extremely THIN; barely a layer piece

Uncomfortable

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

I returned this jacket after trying it on because the zipper and seams are totally uncomfortable. The fleece is nice but what's the point of the fleece if the rest is harsh. It is nicely built and shaped otherwise and looks nice, the color is nice too, but I exchanged it with a Montane that is all the way nice on the skin.
I have another Fjallraven fleece that has similar construction, not as bad but the seams and zipper also are somewhat too rough while the fleece part is awesome, weird design, too bad.

Great everyday piece

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

This is a superb everyday easy wear piece.
I am a medium in all Fjallraven, but this run's a little more trim, so if you want it to wear over a T or baselayer, go normal size. If you want this for over a sweater or similar, consider sizing up. Overall, this is a perfect fall layer or spring hike fleece.
