Five Ten Anasazi VCS Climbing Shoe

If you only want to own one pair of climbing shoes, these are the ones.

The Five Ten Anasazi VCS Climbing Shoe is perhaps the most adept all-around climbing shoe ever made, which is likely the reason it's also the best selling performance shoe ever made. The medium-stiff midsole combines with the stealth Onyxx rubber for lethal edging ability while the dual hook-and-loop straps make on and off an easy operation.

  • Durable Cowdura uppers provide next-to-skin comfort and a glove-like fit
  • Dual hook-and-loop straps provide a secure closure and make for easy on and off
  • Moderate profile shape allows the shoe to perform on everything from steep boulder problems to slabby test pieces
  • Medium-stiff Anasazi midsoles provide powerful edging performance with good sensitivity
  • Stealth Onyxx rubber is harder than other Stealth formulas for enhanced edging performance
  • Padded tongue works with the hook-and-loop straps to enhance comfort

Flat feet.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've tried all the aggressive shoes I care to before this. I have really flat feet: this in blue is the best shoe I've used so far.

Great Shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 10

This is my first pair of climbing shoes so I don't have a lot to compare to except rental shoes. I purchase a size larger than my normal shoe and they're perfect - but that's a personal preference. They looked super purple in the picture but they are much bluer than it shoes. They feel super study and so far work great!

Everything I ever wanted

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 11.5

I absolutely love these shoes. They are my everyday climbing shoe that are next level when it comes to comfort. This was my 4th pair of shoes and I'll always own a pair. They are are great for craggin around, long multi pitch, technical slab, and I really like them for crack. I wear them in the gym and boulder in them, but just upgraded to a more aggressive shoe (the arrowhead) for steeper climbs and delicate foot work.

True to size. I'm an 11.5 street shoe, and the 11.5 fit like a glove. They start to get a little painful after wearing them for long multipitch climbs with hanging belays so I try and take them off while belaying.

Nice

I recently moved from my laced version to these. They're sticky, the fit is great, and they're not nearly as purple as the picture looks.

Awesome shoes

It's my first climbing shoes, and I love it. It fits true to size. I usually wear 9.5 or 10 at street shoes and bought the 9.5

Super stable shoe

Fantastic shoes! The rubber and toebox really let you feel secure on even the smallest chips. I bought these and sent my first 5.10 the first day I used them.

Great shoes

These are my first pair of climbing shoes and I couldn't be happier. I've been hitting the climbing gym 2-3 times a week and have found these shoes to be great for a relative beginner like myself. Above all these shoes give me a confidence in the stick of my foot when trying to advance as a climber. The fit of these is great, I purchased the same size as I wear in a casual shoe, haven't had any problem with sizing at all. I had used these shoes once outside before purchasing, and since then have only been inside at the gym but will be moving outdoors shortly.

Great all around climbing shoe

  • Fit: True to size

I switched to these shoes from the La Sportiva Miura and like them quite a bit more. They are durable, have great grip, and are comfortable. I use them all the time both indoors and outdoors (bouldering and sport climbing). I haven't tried any long multi-pitch routes in them yet but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to take them on a longer climb. I've had them for around a year now using them roughly once a week. I've used them on steep overhanging routes and longer slab routes and they've been great on both. Love this shoe!

Heads up on Golden Tan vs Blue

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you're looking at the color options for the Anasazi, just a heads up that there are more differences between the Gold and Blue than just color. Golden Tan uses Onyxx, while Blue uses C4. As a result, you lose a little bit of edging power and heel tension with the Blue Anasazi, while gaining a bit more friction for smears. You can't go wrong with either.

two thumbs up

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After 2 months of climbing 4-5 times a week, these shoes were well worth it. Great for edging and the magical five ten rubber makes it great on nasty smears too. I dont see these wearing out soon but when they do ill definitely buy another pair.

Thanks for your review, Marsh. These are definitely classics, for a reason!

On my second pair

These are so great that I just keep buying these after my old pair wears out. great gym and climbing outside. 5.10 has great sticky rubber that can hold up for a long time. Love these!

The best shoe ever

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

These are the best shoes I have ever owned! I have climbed, on a variety of rock and they have handled steep, slab, edges, pockets, cracks and more. I've climbed big walls, cragged, bouldered and this has been the most versatile shoe i have ever owned.

I wish they would go back to the old, heel, but still love the shoe.

Great shoe for sport, trad and boulderin

I have had several pairs of the Anasazi's and they along with my TC Pro's are my go-to shoes. The Anasazi have a great fit, hugging your feet whilst still being comfortable all day. I also love the 5.10 stealth which keeps you glued to the rock. My only complaint is that the area around the toe box tends to wear out quickly but they are still an awesome shoe that I highly recommend.

My first

these are great shoes, have little complaints about them other then they get real sweaty and stinky. other then that they get me to some really high places

Great Shoes

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Used a couple times indoors so far, stiff and edge really well. I wear a size 10.5-11, one foot is a little longer, street shoe and sized these at a 10. They are pretty comfortable out of the box, but don't feel like they will stretch much. I tried a 9.5 and couldn't get it on my foot.

Really like these shoes! I ended up getting them to trash in the gym but I have been using them more and more outdoors. Initially I wasn't sure how I felt about the fit as they were a little tight at first even though I got them in my street size (my other shoes are slip-on Anasazis and TC Pros so thats probably the real reason they felt tight), but they've softened up and I have been using them on thin cracks and slabs. They are also great for techy, vertical, sport routes.

All around shoe.

This shoe can do anything. Great shoe for anything from all day multi -pitch climbing to bouldering. Extremely durable thick soled shoe that lasts. The shoe does fit very true to size but it does take awhile for it to break in. When they do break in, you will love everything about this shoe for a all around moderate shoe. I have used this shoe in a lot of different environments from indoor gym climbing, slab climbing, sport and even crack climbing at Indian Creek. Best shoe I have owned.

All around shoe.

Gets the job done.

Snagged these for an all day shoe, I am usually a fan of a slight downturn in my shoes. I sized down a full size from my street shoe. I should have just done a 1/2 size for a little more comfort but they still feel great. Gotta love that Stealth Rubber!!

Awesome shoe

Best all around shoe I've owned. Only bouldered up to V8s in them thus far, but handled well (even in arches). Very comfortable, could use for a multi-pitch day. Super sticky once you've loosened up the rubber. Come out of the box very stiff and slick but after a few good weeks of climbing they stick better than stealth C4 but not quite as good as stealth HF. For sizing: I wear a size 11 street shoe and the size 10 fit nicely. People have complained about the shoe smelling, but I haven't noticed anything and I climb 4-5 times a week. 10/10 would recommend for all around climbing.

    Great for edging

I tried on a variety of shoes to replace my Le Sportiva Turantula's which got some holes after 5 months of heavy climbing.

I wanted something a step up that would be more solid on those tiny foot holds the size of a nickel. I tried on about 12 different pairs of shoes before I landed on these ones. I wear a size 10.5 shoe and went with an 11 which is still pretty tight on me. These shoes are synthetic so they won't stretch as much as a leather shoe.

After using them last night they were everything I hoped for - not the most comfortable in the toes (I have wide feet) but that was to be expected, especially when breaking them in.

I would definitely recommend buying these either a half size or a full size up from your normal shoe size - But that being said, you never really know until you try them on.
