The Cruzer takes a hike.
The Men's Zender Approach Shoe is Evolv's beefed-up version of the classic Cruzer designed for longer hikes to climbs. Its perforated leather upper feels as breathable, soft, and ultralight like the Cruzer, but the rubberized toe and heel pieces ensure long-lasting durability in rocky situations. Smooth foam and soft EVA assure underfoot comfort, while Evolv's climbing-tested Trax rubber gives the sole plenty of friction anywhere on the mountain.

- Q & A
Great shoes... when you add support.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size

I really, really love these shoes... but they have the problem nearly all approach shoes have. There is no arch support. The toes are roomy, the leather is so comfortable they feel like slippers, and when you add the right insole you'll be very happy with everything else this shoe has to offer. Great buy. I'd pick up another pair of these in a heartbeat.

These are comfortable wearing upgrades to the Cruzer by Evolv, which I've also worn for several years. They're leather, and, a little nicer style-wise, and, have the same sticky Evolv rubber as the Cruzer. I wear them mostly around town and for the occasional easy hike, approach, or to the gym, and, they perform great for those purposes. The rubber is sticky, doesn't scuff, and they're comfortable for all day wear. For involved climbing approaches, I personally prefer heavier-duty approach shoes, but these work well for easy walks/hikes to the crag. I would be hesitant to wear these with a heavy pack (too little support), or for long-approaches (more than a mile or so), but for easy scrambling they work well. In terms of durability, they're holding up well without much sign of wear-and-tear, but I don't use them for demanding activities by any means. I personally consider these less a technical shoe and more of a wear-around town and for occasional easy hikes or approaches type-shoe.
