Set yourself apart.

Upgrading your kit this season shouldn't just mean investing in the same bibs you see everyone at your weekly group ride using. Though your fellow riders may rave about their chosen brand, you enjoy sampling smaller brands and pieces with understated details, and in a tight-knit cycling community you'd rather not ride looking exactly like everyone else on the roads. If you appreciate understated styling and high-end fabrics, Spanish-born Etxeondo would be well worth your consideration, and the Basque brand's Koma Sport Women's Bib Short would make an affordable, functional training bib short for your upcoming season.

Started in 1976 by a founder who spent much of his early career working with sublimated fabrics for haute couture companies, Etxeondo carefully chooses its fabrics to this day. The soft, silky NeoAir fabric that it uses on the Koma Bib Short garners attention for its lightness and moisture-wicking capabilities, and Etxeondo cuts it to follow a close, contoured fit around your muscles that's slightly more relaxed than some race-specific kit. We commend Etxeondo for its clean, one-piece bib design, which eliminates extra seaming to provide as smooth and precise of a fit for its bib straps as possible underneath a jersey.

Other details, like the high, supportive waistband and smooth elasticized leg grippers, provide reassuring security while you're moving around in the saddle, and reflective accents help improve your visibility on rides that end on the other side of sunset. Designed for long or short training rides, the Koma includes Etxeondo's Gaina chamois, a breathable, elastic arrangement of multi-density foam that's a far cry from the minimalistic, unembellished chamois designs that we've seen from Etxeondo in the past. The odor-resistant fabric and strategic topography of the insert aim to reduce pressure and provide women's-specific support so that you're free to focus on passing the rider in front of you on the climb ahead, never on discomfort.

Great bibs for the price

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I select these shorts because of the price. I hadn't purchased any other products by ETXEONDO but after wearing these shorts on a few rides I would certainly buy other apparel from them. I paired them with my new Castelli jersey which puts another excellent kit in my cycling wardrobe.

Good fit, unusual straps

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

These bid shorts fit well. The chamois is comfortable. To date I have only worn them on short rides in the park, but am confident they will hold up on a longer ride.
The bib strap is a bit unconventional, but comfortable.
