Pow Day at Snowbird!

Pow Day at Snowbird!

Great jacket for on or off the mountain!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I have had a chance to use the Eider Rocks Jacket for a couple of weeks now and I like it a lot! I normally ski with a shell and a couple of insulating layers, but has been really nice to just be able to throw this jacket on over my baselayer and not have to worry about a bunch of different layers. This has 100 grams of insulation so it is pretty warm and has been perfect for ski days in the 20-30 degree range. I even used it for night skiing; the temps were in the teens and all I had to put under it was a lightweight fleece. This has plenty of pockets including an upper arm pocket that is perfect for an RFID ski pass, two chest pockets (one outer and one interior media pocket) and plenty of space in the hand pockets. It also has all the key features for a ski jacket; helmet compatible hood, pit zips, powder skirt, and even stretchy wrist gaiters to keep snow from going up your sleeves.

My favorite thing about this jacket is the fact that it works just as well when wearing it around town as it does when skiing. It has a super clean look and I love the fact that the fabric has a crosshatch, almost heathered, weave that gives it a sophistocated look. I’ll definitely be rocking this on Main Street in Park City during the Sundance Film Festival this year.
