When you live somewhere with touring access as legendary as Telluride or Teton Valley, owning cold-weather clothing that isn't multi-functional just doesn't make sense. Best thing I never knew I needed
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: S
I was searching for a puffy skirt mainly because I wanted one for after skiing. I had semi scoffed at previous reviews of other skirts saying how the puffy skirt "kept their bum warm" but holy smokes I was wrong. Its versatile and totally adaptable to whatever you're doing. I wear mine walking, hiking, even doing yoga sometimes on a cold morning, splitboarding. Its actually light and pack able enough I will bring it with me for overnight spring touring trips. I love the ability to adjust the zips for different steepness in terrain and the fact I can take it fully off with the one full side zip (with gloves on too!).
.
Whats also great about is its the only puffy skirt I tried on that was narrow enough at the bottom and not just awkwardly flared out! So it looks fantastic on!
Sleek and warm
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: small
This skirt is definitely a lot thinner than I expected. It is also a lot more grey than black. While I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't a puffy skirt, I actually came to love this skirt. I wear it all the time while I'm winter camping in the desert or when I just want a little extra warmth over some baselayers.
The best thing about this skirt are the zippers. I've tried other skirts that just don't because of my waist/hip ratio (way too tight on hips but too loose on waist). I love this skirt because the zipper makes it super easy to get on and off and the waist is super flattering. I also love that you can adjust the zippers from the bottom so that the skirt doesn't pull too tight when you're sitting down.
Too thin for me
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
I was looking for a down skirt to wear over riding tights this winter when it gets REAL cold. This skirt was super flattering and easy to get on/off, but I wanted more insulation and warmth. Not great for my needs, but if you want a skirt that won't constrain you as you go about your activities, this could work for you.
