Dynafit Beast Gore-Tex Jacket - Men's

For the backcountry beast in all of us.

The Beast is Dynafit's lightest and most breathable ski jacket for touring. A 3-layer Gore-Tex Active shell gives the Beast guaranteed waterproof protection that still provides the high breathability that touring demands. Gore-Tex Active is so thin and light that you can pack the entire jacket into its hood for compact convenience. A comfort fit allows plenty of layers, and articulated sleeves ensure a full range of motion. The Beast also features zippered ventilation, a helmet-compatible hood, hook-and-loop cuffs, a zippered sleeve pocket, and two large front pockets that you can access with a backpack or a harness on.

Backcountry should use real photo's

For what its worth...bought the General Lee color. It is in no way as bright and shiny as the goofy depiction they have posted. Ran into this issue with other brands on Backcountry's website as well... (Norrona etc). Have bought a ton of stuff over many years from BC... just a suggestion would be to use male & female models or real life pic's. This would cut down on the number of returns and serve your customers better. Your customers decision making process would be quicker.
Onto the jacket. Very happy with the subdued flat non shiny look with a hint of rust and a zipper color that matchs last years Beast pant. Fit is excellent for me. Ordered size medium I am 5'11" 165 and wear a 34/35 sleeve length. Not too boxy with the perfect amount of room for a Dynafit Vulcan down or TLT mid-layer jackets. Super happy.

I love this jacket. It fits great (6'4 200lbs) is super repellent, the the pocket, zip and hood features are excellent. That said, it is not a one quiver backcountry jacket unless you are willing to pack a lot of layers. It is very light and although I haven't had any issues yet, it doesn't feel very durable.

    Light. Stormproof.

I have had a few of these jackets, from the prototypes to the current model. I think it's a great shell for touring. My "hardshell" jackets tend to stay in my pack until it's storming or I'm descending. I don't want anything heavy or bulky. The Beast jacket disappears in my pack. I also don't want to go home when it starts storming – obviously! – and this jacket allows me to keep skinning and shredding, while staying dry. I haven't had a problem with durability or craftsmanship – my last one had well over 100-days and still looked new.

I do have to say, I only give it four stars because the internal skin pockets have been removed. Personally, I am bummed about this. But if you don't use skin pockets, then this is a perfect jacket.

I am 5'8" and 145-lbs. I use a medium because I want it to fit over my softshell jacket and puffy jacket, which it does with some room to spare.

    Perfect touring jacket

Jacket definitely fits a little big, but I honestly don't mind as it makes it more comfortable on those colder days where I'm wearing a few more layers. Really light, wonderful breathability and great protection from the howling winds.

    Too large

The quality of this jacket seems very good. I ordered M because the size guide steered me to this size, and I normally wear M in most North American brands. Shoulders fit well but way, way too large in the waist. M in this jacket feels like XL fit. I cannot imagine that anyone who is actually using this jacket for ski touring would ever want something that fits like this. I was pretty stoked for this jacket but sadly had to return it.

Martin, looking to pick one of these jackets up... interested to know your build if a M was too large. I'm 5'8" 150 & debating between a S/M. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Jeremy, you would likely be a small. The jacket is designed to fit looser in general. I am 190 and 6' and wear a large

    Letting the Beast Loose

Took the Dynafit Beast Jacket and Pant combo out it in search of September turns. I have to say I was blown away. The Gore-Tex Active Shell really breaths well. I was able to hike the entire couloir with out unzipping or opening the vents yet provided plenty of protection from the notorious Colorado 14er winds in the Front Range. I can't wait to use the combo more this winter.
