DAKINE Smyth 2L Pant - Men's
DAKINESmyth 2L Pant - Men's

Put the hammer down—rain or shine.

Just because it's raining and snowing doesn't mean you get to hang up your tools and go home, so Dakine built the Men's Smyth 2L Pant to keep you dry and cozy so you can finish out the work day in comfort. Reinforced with a Gore Tex lining and fully taped seams, the Smyth is breathable and waterproof, so you can stay dry in the downpour, but not overheat as you move around the job site. Scuff guards prevent bottom-of-the-pant fraying, and built-in boot gaiters prevent water from seeping through the bottom of the pant. Plus, mesh-lined thigh vents provide extra breathability should you find yourself hiking up a hill or overheating in the midst of labor.

  • A waterproof and breathable pant for rainy or snowy days outside
  • Gore Tex membrane + fully taped seams are waterproof and breathable
  • Mesh-lined thigh vents increase air flow when things heat up
  • Reinforced scuff guards prevent damage to bottom of pant
  • Boot gaiters keep moisture out of interior of ankle cuff
  • Zippered pockets provide stowage for everyday essentials

Solid Everyday Pants

My review is for last season's pair, but I don't see any difference compared to the current season's.
Put about 10 days so far on mine this season for riding in WA and am impressed. Fabric gets wetted out in spots here and there, but that's heavy, wet PNW snow for you. Otherwise, I've been bone dry inside. Cuffs aren't the most durable, but overall for a sub $300 pair of Goretex pants, these are a great value for everyday resort riding. Keep in mind these are pretty light shell pants so layer accordingly.

For sizing, I feel they do run slightly small in the waist. I went with XL and though Dakine's size chart says XL goes up to 38, I'm a 36 and the waist fit spot on. Regular fit through the leg is accurate per Dakine's description, though I went with the larger size up so they're on the relaxed/loose side for me. Lengthwise seems pretty standard for XL.
