This backpack is great because it does what you need it to do without the needless bells and whistles. It's dependable. It works. My son wanted it for purely utilitarian reasons... and it's fulfilled his expectations.

this backpack is awesome! its so simple and casual but also comfortable and durable! I use it nearly everyday for over a year now as my go-to backpack for overnights or whatever else. after over a year it shows minimal wear, and the olive and brown color still looks great (shows no stains). my mac fits fine in the laptop sleeve, love the fact that its a little bit padded, could be a little more padded though.. the only issue I've noticed is because it is so light, if i put a lot of weird shaped things in it (like shoes or boots or something) it tends to bulge out awkwardly on my back… however this is such a light backpack and I would assume its primary use was meant for school books, which it is perfect for! i love the fact that it isn't too bulky and looks fine when not full. straps are also comfortable!

By "strips" I assume you are referring to the shoulder straps on the DAKINE Capitol 23L Backpack. The straps are ergonomic and padded and should be more comfortable to wear than the average school pack.

Excellent backpack

I really like this backpack because it has plenty of room and divisions but is does not look bulky. I especially like the streamlined design of it so I can wear it with various outfits.

Perfect for students

This is a very simple backpack but suits your everyday student/commuting pack. I ordered the Midnight and it looks exactly as pictured on the site. I wouldn't recommend it for use while biking but its not the worst backpack to bike with if your traveling shorter distances. The padded sleeve for your laptop is perfect for a 15 in laptop. Fits everything I need. I also really like the front organizer for your pencils and gadgets.

    Dakine is Awesome

This is my 3rd Dakine backpack, and once again Dakine doesn't dissapoint. They put out some great gear, and this campus oriented backpack is another good product.

It is a simple backpack with the 2 pockets (small front pocket contains organized slots for pencils/calculator/phone/etc. and a zipped slot as well. Laptop sleeve is nicely padded, and is VERY comfortable. This thing carries very well.

Overall a great pack for day use at school or around town, or a trip to the campus library or whatever. I probably wouldn't recommend it for anything more than that though, as it is a very minimal pack, and doesn't even have a sternum strap or waist strap.
