A little rain never hurt anyone.

Thunderstorms in the forecast? No worries—just put on the Columbia Men's Watertight II Jacket and you'll be right as rain. The Omni-Tech two-layer nylon shell is fully seam sealed, so not only does it keep moisture out, but its air-permeable design allows unwanted perspiration to escape. And no worries about getting the right fit—this jacket comes with an adjustable drawcord hem, so you're good to go. You can also use the zippered hand pockets to keep you hands warm, or to pack your jacket inside, once the clouds part and the sun pops back out.

Bring It On

This is a great jacket. I have been really impressed how well it breathes considering it is a rain jacket. Also, you can tell it has been designed to last -- really good quality. I'm really happy with it so far.

Great all-around functional jacket!

I love this jacket so much! Honestly, it's so comfortable I don't even take it off when I get to the office! It's both functional and stylish and it earns my highest recommendation. Good for around town or day long back country ski tours.

So far, so good

I'm 6' 5" and generally wear 42 size jackets. With that in mind, I purchased the Large yellow version of this jacket. At first the jacket felt a bit too large for my frame, but once added a couple of layers underneath (how I'd actually wear this in the wild), it felt much better. Still a little loose, but I'd rather have that than it being too tight and constricting. Quality of the jacket seems nice. It's lightweight, simple, nothing to complain about. A NOTE ABOUT THE YELLOW - the jacket isn't quite as yellow as the images here depict. IRL it has a bit more orange in it for a tone that's kind of close to mustard. I like it, but if you're looking for a bright canary / banana yellow, this ain't it.

Nice jacket

Fits great, true to size. It is nice to wear out and is stylish.

    Awesome, versatile jacket!

I recently bought this jacket for my son because he won't leave mine alone! This jacket is completely awesome! It fits perfect, breathes very well and is about as water "resistant" as you could possibly hope or expect it to be. The mesh liner really sets this jacket apart. The versatility of this jacket is really understated. I use this jacket for backcountry touring because it works so effectively to manage my temperature while skinning up for some fresh turns. I really highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a light weight, comfortable, breathable yet waterproof outer layer. It even has the feel of a mid '90's throwback ski parka when you have it on. Maybe it's the nostalgia of that image talking but I might buy another one again just in case mine wears out!

Coat worked amazing when I needed it on my trip. I went for a long hike and the weather was suppose to get pretty rough, which it did. I pulled the jacket out of my backpack and it kept my bag and myself completely dry. After a short while when the rain was finished the jacket was completely dry. Awesome!! Thank you.

      Gets the Job Done

I took this to wear in Uganda which is right on the equator. We did not have a lot of rain but it would randomly rain torrentially throughout the trip. This jacket did a great job by keeping me dry and not making me too hot. I had very limited packing space to the fold into the pocket feature was also very beneficial.

      Easy Breezy

        Great light weight jacket

Let's be honest, if you can get this jacket cheap like I did, it's a steal. If you have to pay full price, or even $50+.....meh.

Don't get me wrong, it's a solid performer: Fully taped seams, adjustable hood/cuffs/waist, and it's packable. However, it lacks the pit vents that are so desperately needed during those the springs/fall ascents. Even though the jacket is breathable, no amount of selective permeability can substitute direct ventilation.

As for water resistance, I have only been able to use this shell in snow and sleet conditions. Water does seem to bead off of the jacket with ease, so I don't foresee water repellency to be an issue.

Sizing is akin to most Columbia products: Slightly larger and longer than my other shells, but I welcome this as it allows me to add a couple layers for those colder days. I could still wear this jacket with just a tee underneath, but it would probably start to look more like a medium on me.

Price vs cost makes the watertight II an excellent entry level shell. Thus, it would make a great backup or short ascent tech layer, but I wouldn't rely on it as my primary shell.

        Better than the venture

I purchased this jacket "just to try" when it was time to replace my NF Venture rain jacket after finding they had significantly changed the design and cut. To my surprise it's 100x better than the NF and half the price. The cuffs have elastic which most rain jackets have done away with, very nice to not have to Velcro the sleeve every single time you take it on and off. The zipper is covered. And the interior has a mesh lining which wicks sweat. I wore this jacket over a cloth sweater in complete down pour for 6 hours while on vacation. Got back to the room and my sweater was completely dry when I took it off. If you are on the fence, I would absolutely suggest giving this jacket a try. You won't be disappointed.
