Columbia Platinum 860 Turbodown Jacket - Men's

The best of both worlds.

Using a combination of hydrophobic goose down and Omni-Heat synthetic insulation, the Columbia Men's Platinum 860-fill Turbodown Jacket provides the loft and warmth of down with the moisture management of a synthetic fill jacket. Within each baffle is a stacked combination of natural and synthetic fibers. While the down maintains warmth, synthetic fibers offer breathability and pull moisture away from your body. The Omni-Heat reflective lining uses small reflective circles along the face of the fabric to reflect your body heat back to you, and the micro ripstop shell helps keep all that techy fill inside the jacket. Great for cold days on belay or hikes into the alpine, the Platinum 860 is an essential jacket for any adventure.

    Great Jacket, terrible pockets

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I have enjoyed this jacket all winter, especially in our cold Chicago Winters. It is much warmer that my NorthFace Thermoball so I can wear it until it gets below the low 20's. Unfortunately, my only complaint is that the pockets are just terrible. They are so small that it barely holds my cell phone and keys which constantly fall out. I have almost lost my car keys, house keys and cell phone several times. I have dropped my cell phone between the seat and the center console several times. You can't have a cell phone and your hand in the same pocket at the same time. Plus there is no inside pocket. The pockets are too small to hold my gloves and a cell phone. This is, for me, a deal breaker. I purchased it on-line so was not able to try it on prior to purchase. If the jacket wasn't so warm, I would have sent it back. I am now trying to find a tailor that can work on these down jackets without screwing it up. If all of their jackets are like this, it may be the last Columbia jacket I purchase.

I owned this jacket for more than 1 year
