Roll With It.
Chrome is highly regarded for creating what are arguably the best messenger bags on the market. Experience as messengers and knowing what works well on the street and day-to-day items get hauled around translate into the design of each and every bag. While messenger bags are an iconic symbol of the urban cyclist and they're easy to access items from, the reality is, backpacks are more stable and comfortable. Chrome designed the Urban Ex Rolltop 18L Backpack as the best waterproof and super tough bag on the streets. Chrome knows you gotta keep rolling regardless of the weather so it added a watertight quick access compartment for essentials such as keys, phone, and wallet. The rest of the bag's contents are kept dry with radio-frequency welds for lightweight, waterproof construction. The 600-denier poly/nylon upper and durable synthetic rubber bottom pull double duty keeping water completely at bay. A roll-top closure makes it easy to get to items quickly and ensures that gear doesn't get soaked when you ride through a shower. For fit, Chrome instills a reworked two-strap harness for added comfort and adjustability fitting cyclists of all sizes. For additional storage, the Urban Ex 18L has five-bar handles for hauling extra gear and an iPad sleeve. Low profile reflective MOLLE webbing on the face and harness provide maximum visibility when heading back from the bar or a night spent studying at the library.

- Q & A
Simple and comfortable but...
Love the simplicity of this pack. Basically a single pocket day pack which is exactly what I wanted. A couple critiques though, one being that the inside liner is black as well, which looks really nice, but makes it hard to see/find items at the bottom. Since itâs already a small bag, I also wish the outside pocket was more external - when filled it takes up a lot of room inside the bag, which makes it trickier to slide things inside the main pocket. Iâve solved this by using a packable small zip bag to keep things organized inside. The last thing, is that the loops on the outside donât comfortably fit some larger ulocks, and may be too far spaced out for some smaller ulocks, unless with the larger you loop through just two loops (what I do), or for the smaller, you dangle it (kinda annoying). Definitely is 100% waterproof, comfortable, simple design, stylish and sleek. It does what is advertised and I do like it overall.
Tough is an understatement
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This backpack has been perfect for soggy Utah commutes. I get concerned riding in weather with my laptop or tablet in other bags, but I have full confidence in this Chrome backpack. Even in heavy downpours, everything on the inside has remained completely dry. The bag feels best when you stuff your items towards the back and bottom of the bag. i have found that there are two spots on either side of my hips that will rub if I don't have something filling out the bottom of the backpack. Love the roll top feature that caters the height of the bag to whatever I am carrying that day. It also has a very breathable mesh back which keeps me from overheating when the weather turns. I have a feeling this bag will last a very long time and I look forward to many slushy, rainy, or dry commutes with it.
