Great, but I can't stand the toe strap!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 8

This is a wonderful sandal that does it all! I would recommend Chacos to anyone. However, I couldn't stand the toe strap. It tightened up throughout the day and if you bypassed it, the tightening strap near the heel would be too long and drag. When I first got these, I was so excited because I got the X2 classics in a wonderful color and it was on sale. Unfortunatly, after my first couple days with them, I decided I couldn't keep them and went with a pair of Chaco's Z1 classics. They arrived just in time for a climbing trip to the North Shore of Minnesota. I only brought these and my climbing shoes. They were comfortable right from the start and wonderful for a multitude of experiences (swimming, hiking, and hanging around). I was able to put socks on with them when walking through tall grass (bypassed the toe strap to accommodate socks). I wore them on a 1.5 mile section of the Superior Hiking Trail, and they were great. They were wonderful on the rocky shore of where the Baptism River meets Lake Superior. Everyone I speak with who owns a pair of Chacos loves them and has had them for YEARS. The longest lasting pair I've seen was 10 years old and put to good use. Word is the Classic sole lasts longer than the Cloud sole, but the cloud is a softer sole. I plan on using mine for many years, so I went with the classic--just without the toe strap this time.

I bought these for my sister. She has wanted to try Chacos and loves them so far. She typically wears a 7.5 in sandals, so I tried her in the size 7. They were a little tight initially, but breaking in great. She LOVES the arch support!

I love these Chacos! I was Tev girl for years and was wary of Chacos because they just looked uncomfortable. Surprisingly, they are actually comfy! It took me a little bit to adjust, but after that I love wearing them everywhere. I can’t wait to take these on my next backpacking trip!

They're great, they're chacos!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

you really can't go wrong with chacos. I wear them nearly full time during the summer, hiking, walking around town, socially, and sometimes to work. They're great. I got these to replace old ones that I got, and so far they've been great. These have a different thread than my old ones (I'm not sure what the old ones were), but I only noticed that visually rather than functionally. The webbing is more delicate on these than my old ones. I'm not sure if I just didn't get the right project (does Chaco have different webbing burlynesses?), it hasn't been a problem so far, but I haven't really beat them up like my other ones.

They also fit my foot really well; and I have pretty falt, pretty wide, but smallish (sz 7) feet. The first pair gave me bad blisters the first time I wore them (on the arch of my foot), but that never happened again and didn't happen with these.

My wife loves her chacos. Great for hiking when you're going through water. They do take a little bit of getting used to if you've never had them before. This is her 2nd pair, first time with the double straps and she thinks the double straps are more comfortable. Will be buying again and again and again.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

They're chacos and they're great, one thing is the footbed is firmer/harder then other models and it takes awhile to break them in, but once they're broke in they're great!

They're cool

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Pretty comfortable sandal. I've used it a couple times and have no complaints so far.

Perfect sandals

These are my wife's first pair of chacos and she loves them. She wore these on a trip to florida and wore them on the beach, on long walks and while trekking around town. She didnt get any blisters and loved them.

    Love them!

These are great to walk in all day! Perfect summer sandals.

    My longest relationship

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Chacos are the best. If you're looking for shoes for the long haul, the classic foot bed is where its at. The newer designs are comfy, but the squishy beds end up being hotter for my feet and are uncomfortable when wet. I am not personally a big fan of the double strap (the X in ZX2) design. I think they are more finicky to get into the position you like and are not as easy to slip into (these were a gift for my niece). I do support the toe loop (the 2 in ZX2) because it is more secure in water - and I can just stomp them down when I wear them with wool socks.

    First replacement in 10 years

      Women’s ZX2 Classic Chacos:
My first pair of ZX2s finally tore through the straps after 10 years of continuous summer use I knew I wanted the same thing for the next 10 years of playing outdoors. I hike in these for anything under 4 miles, wear them in the lake and river, and wear them just doing daily stuff. Couldn’t love them more.

      chaco chaco!!!!

      best sandal and long lasting.

      I wear them everyday!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are the best sandals I have owned. They fit my wide feet perfect after I learned how to adjust them and they're cute! I've done easy hikes in them and wear them fishing and kayaking. They work well in the water and on land.

      Almost what I wanted

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got these to replace my Chacos that were falling apart. They didn't seem quite as burly. Maybe that's because there's not yet enough dirt worked into the straps to make them stiff? I'm slowly breaking them in. They're doing the trick. I still hate the toe loop because it always tightens down and chokes my toe out, but tucking it away is still a reasonable solution. Next time I'm going for the toe-loop-less model. But in the mean time, at least I look cool.

My sister has been wearing Chacos for as long as they've been around. She recently converted me, and I bought her these as a gift. Of course, she loves them .

      Classic Winner

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Purchased for my girlfriend. She has had Chacos for many seasons, and these are her first double strap sandals. She says they could use a bit of wearing in the water to loosen up. The ankle strap is a bit long and needs to be cut. Bummer they don't use Vibram soles anymore!

      Mom Loves Em

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Got a pair of these for Mom. She went with the nice purple design and she really likes them. She is looking forward to wearing them to all of her summer activities hanging out in Costa Rica and the beaches of NC.

Though born and bred for most river activities and general mountain summer activities, my mom still feels as though the Chaco is comfortable for everyday wear during the warmer parts of the year in NC

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

You really don't need any other sandals. These are true to size. I mistakenly bought a size too large for width then learned how to adjust the straps to fit.

      You never need another shoe.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Ok- that sounded dramatic. But seriously, I LIVE in these shoes. Especially in the west where sandals aren't a blister issue.
