Chaco Z/Cloud Sandal - Men's

Cloud nine comfort.

The rugged durability and adventure-worthy performance you've come to expect from Chaco is now available with an added dose of comfort in the Men's Z/Cloud Sandal. It has the same tough, fully adjustable webbing straps and burly ChacoGrip outsole as your old original Chacos, but with the benefit of a cushier footbed that offers a softer feel and enhanced comfort without sacrificing performance. The footbed is also antimicrobial to resist odor when you're wearing this sandal every day (which you surely will).

Newbie

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 10

I am a Chaco newbie. I wanted a sandal that wouldn't click clack all the way down the stairs and across the street. A sandal that I could be comfortable in, get some color on my feet, and be able to spontaneously go for a hike or walk through a creek. These are perfect for all those things, and also a great alternative to wearing your slippers outside (just throw on your favorite socks and slide these bad boys on over them)

Walkin' on Clouds

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got these as a gift for my Uncle who is very particular about his sandals, having some lower back and hip injuries, and he loves these sandals. The footbed on this provides a great amount of support but is also cushioned for maximum comfort. The only thing he noticed was that the strap is a bit long when tightened fully, but that is not a big deal. He is now hooked on chacos!

Cloud for the win!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I love the classic Chaco, but these ones really changed my mind about Chacos. The Cloud footbed is so comfortable right out of the box, there is pretty much no break in period for these sandals. The Cloud footbed is a little softer than the traditional Chaco footbed. Softer also means less durable to me but I haven't seen any deterioration of the shoes thus far. I'd recommend these to anyone who enjoys a really comfy sandal and a nice breeze through the toes!

End of summer update

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So I wrote a review when I first got the shoes and really liked them... Nothing changed over the following 3 months or so.

The good
I essentially wore these every day all summer. I worked some 60hr weeks all in my Chaco's and they served me very well. I did just about everything in these shoes other than real hikes and I never had any issues with not having the toe loop or anything else on the shoes.

The bad
While I really like the z cloud for its comfort over the traditional Chaco footbed however it doesn't come without drawbacks. The soft z cloud material is a sort of open cell foam and it takes longer to dry out after getting them wet than the traditional Chacos would. Because of this they did develop a bit of an unpleasant odor after some time. On another note the softer material has worn away on the heels a bit (I'll include a photo) but it doesn't affect the shoes performance.

Over all durability rating I'm going to have to give it a 6/5 because last summer I ate destroyed 2 pairs of shoes over the summer while doing the same job and same recreational stuff.
(I am aware the 6 out of 5 isn't really realistic in a traditional rating system but it's for emphasis)

Thanks for the review Landon! Sounds like your summer was awesome.

Best footwear ever

This is my third pair of chacos. The other pairs lasted anywhere from 3-5 years. Super convenient for traveling, hiking with water, in between climbs and all sorts of other activities. There is no break in period with the new footbeds and I only have good things to say about the design. If I ever find myself traveling, camping or being outdoors anywhere without chacos, I think to myself don't do that again. Comfy, long lasting, minimal looking but you can live in these.πŸ™πŸ’―πŸΎβ›ΊοΈπŸ‘

Get the job done

I gave these to my brother as a gift. He has a pair before that he wore for 10 years and they finally fell apart. He loves these just like he loved his previous ones. They are simple and get the job done with comfort.

So $110 for sandals huh? I have never been a sandal person. I never liked the way the looked or felt. However sometimes they are necessary so in the past I have purchased other brands and styles that are cheaper and been very disappointed in them resulting in me not wearing them. But I finally gave in and bought some. I got mine about a week ago and have worn them almost every day since then and am very impressed.

Fit and quality
I purchased a size 11 which is what I usually wear and they pretty good for length maybe a touch long. The straps are very easily adjusted to fit your foot just right so the width height of your foot is accommodated. The quality of the sole, straps, and buckles is excellent. They feel very durable with no notable manufacturing blemishes

Comfort and function
I had previously tried on a pair or the classic Chaco z/1 and I thought they were to stiff so these z cloud were just what I needed. When I first put these on I thought they were very comfortable and had no hot spots. The following day I wore them for about 12 hours while I was at work. ( I work at a Marina ) I was running around on the dock constantly getting them wet, definitely putting them to the test. At the end of that day my feet were starting to hurt and blister a little. After about the fourth day in them they were feeling great, the shoes broke in and my feet got used to them. They have good traction even in the wet and give your foot some support and protection form any objects you might be stepping on.

Side note : Initially I thought I would want the toe strap of the z/2 but tried them on and hated how it felt. So I knew I needed a model without the toe strap but was worried my foot would be all over in the sandal but it really hasn't been an issue so far, and I have been very active in them.

Thanks for the review Landon! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.
