Chaco Z/2 Classic Sandal - Men's

Drawing steadfast loyalty with its rugged dependability, the Chaco Men's Z/2 Classic Sandal is a perennial favorite of seasoned travelers, hardcore hikers, and river runners. Its refreshingly simple design uses only eight components for timeless style and functionality in demanding conditions. Pull-through adjustable webbing straps provide a fine-tuned fit while the ladder lock buckle keeps the straps from loosening up during active wear.

Ideal for stream crossings and trips to the beach, the Z/2's textured footbed prevents your foot from sliding around once it's wet. The antimicrobial footbed treatment prevents funky odors from taking hold, especially after extended treks in humid weather. Plus, the LUVSEAT midsole cushions your every step with its plush feel and ergonomic shaping. And because it's home on rough trails and slippery shores, the ChacoGrip rubber sole adds sure-footed stability to land and sea adventures.

  • Pull-through adjustable webbing straps with toe loop
  • Injection-molded ladder lock buckle
  • Textured footbed with antimicrobial treatment
  • LUVSEAT midsole (polyurethane)
  • ChacoGrip rubber sole (3.5mm lug depth)

Not getting the hype

  • Fit: Runs large

Honestly, I just can't on board with the hype of Chaco sandals. I have tried them on multiple times and tried to convince myself to like them, but I just can't. They are bulky, heavy, and just feel awkward. I will admit that their strap system is pretty rad, but that all falls irrelevant to me with the feel. I guess that a lot of the durability and sturdiness comes from the density of the sole, but I just can't justify wearing a sandal that is twice as heavy as my shoes. Last note, I wear an 8.5 and the 8 fit me best.

After years of being on the fence, I finally purchased a pair of chacos. I was gearing up for a trip to Costa Rica, and needed some new sandals. For that trip , specifically, they were ideal and they're great for a lot of other scenarios, too. My only regret , would be not getting a pair sooner .

Love these Sandals!

I'm still not a fan of the toe loop, but I wanted to give them a try. Don't go for toe loops if you are comfortable with thong flip flops. They don't feel similar at all! The soles are great for just about anything out there.

Well made sandals. Purchased as a gift for my friend. Didn't really use them but I can tell they are of high quality!

Runs Large

I ordered these in a size 8 (I'm almost always a size 8 or 8.5 in shoes) and they we a good 1.5cm too long. Otherwise, really liked the shoes! I'll be returning the 8 and trying a 7.

These Chaco's are my go to sandal for any kind of adventure during the summer. I love the adjustable straps for a perfect fit. I'd recommend these to anyone looking for an upgraded Teva that is going to last a lot longer!

Indestructible

Sole has a great arch and provides support all day long. They are extremely comfortable and form fitting. Highly recommended.

    Initial Thoughts

Initial thoughts from a weekend in Moab is they are very comfortable and built for walking around the desert. Throwing them on after a long day of hiking or biking and wearing them around the campsite was great. I am still a little concerned about blisters and longer hikes as i do feel some rubbing, but I assume once they are broken in all will be good.

      high hopes!

The Chaco is definitely not what they used to be, but still one of the better high arch river shoe on the market. The straps have more flex in adjusting than what they did 10-20 years ago. Same traditional design now without the vibram sole... We'll see how they hold up in the long run. I do like the diversity of the colors though.

      Love my Chacos!

I love everything about these sandals and have used them from casual around the house wear, to hikes in Zions National Park in UT to canoeing and portaging in the BWCA (Boundary Waters Canoe Area) in MN. Thick soles, not flimsy like other flip-flops give great support and the adjustable strap and toe loop is great for stability. I highly recommend!

After talking with a lot of friends that wore similar Chacos, I finally decided to snag a pair myself. Right out of the box they are very comfortable and break in pretty quickly. Im excited to use these on some summer hikes in the upcoming months

I got these for a friend before his trip to Bali! said he wore them the entire time, he went on some long waterfall hikes and said they were secure and supportive and his foot didn't slide around when it was wet. He also said he liked the toe loop and easy adjustability.

I'm not a big fan of how thick the sole is. It's about and inch and a half. The side of my foot by the arch kinda hits the buckle on the side. Next time I will go to a store and try them on and look at them before I buy. All in all I like them and would buy again.

      Doing great so far!

I have had these sandals for about a month so far, and these have quickly became some of my favorite sandals. When I first put them on, they seemed very stiff and difficult to adjust. After watching the video about how to adjust them, and about two weeks of break in, they feel great! I have worn them to class everyday and on a few local trails. They have passed every test I have thrown at them. The toe strap really helps keep my foot secure in the sandal. I have also received more than one compliment on these sandals, which has never happened with any other sandal I have owned. Overall, these sandals are great and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a great pair of sandals for casual and hiking use.

Side note: These sandals are quite expensive, but if you can catch them on sale, they are worth it.

I've had a pair of Z2s for a long time, and just picked up a pair for my brother so he fits in with all of us climbers down in the desert. The big toe strap on the Z2 is a real game changer when the Chacos are used for hikes and approaches–it definitely keeps your feet more planted and doesn't allow the toebox area of the sandal from folding under like the non-toe strap versions can on steep terrain.
