Great backpacking camp shoe
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I am a huge fan of Chaco sandals as camp shoes for backpacking, and the Chaco Odyssey sandal may be my new favorite, especially for trips with hazardous water crossings where more foot protection and grip would be necessary. The sizing of the Chaco Odyssey Sandals was slightly bigger than my standard Chaco sandals, or I just couldn't figure out how to tighten the back strap enough. It wasn't a huge deal as they were easy to slip on and off and my foot never felt unstable or insecure. I packed these for an overnight in Olympic National Forest. They were super comfy to slip into at camp and easier to wear with my thicker backpacking socks. I was able to walk all over camp and even do some minor scrambling with them on without needing to change back into my boots which is a huge plus for me. I am excited to take them on trips where I will need to cross some bigger more powerful streams this summer! Overall the Chaco Odyssey Sandals were a win for me!
