    Classic cotton.

Despite its fast-sounding name, Castelli's Velocissimo Cap has a classic construction that's in no hurry to race into the future. It's made from four panels of cotton twill, a design that's been virtually unchanged since cotton first arose as a challenger to wool's unquestioned domination of all things cycling cap-related. Its oversized Castelli branding and abbreviated tricolor stripe give a hint of contemporary flair to an otherwise traditional piece of headwear.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Well, I guess I wonder what Norm expected from his Castelli Velocissimo cap, and if he paid the full msrp, as tagged, of 15smackeroos, because I grabbed it for the, I took it to be, pretty reasonable 6smackeroos, that our friends @ backcountry wanted for it?

This is, quite simply, an old-school-like riding cap, of a kind of quality one is going to get with an old-school riding cap - as the kids say, "it is what it is" - if they're even still around to be found. I believe, with all my heart, in a more perfect world, we'd all have a collectors bag filled to the brim of this type of cap, with the gamut of colors, sponsorship, etc., (read: as OMG is my witness, OMG do I sure wish I had a Faema*) none offering any better quality and some, probably worse.

The only thing wrong with it, that I've noticed so far, is that I wasn't able to grab it for 4smackeroos.

Cheap hat, you get what you pay for

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: One size fits all

This is my first cycling hat and I am greatly disappointed. Although it was inexpensive it is not top quality. If you want a hat that you will wear, spend some extra money and get something worth wearing.

Wore it about 5 rides including a gran condo 108mi on an 85 degree day. I personally like it a lot. Flip the visor up for greater visibility and flip it down to keep the sun out of your face. Work great. In humid days it will hold a lot of sweat but at no point during any of my rides I felt the need to take it off because of overheating. Since I have ordered a few more caps. Next year ill be sure to try the strictly summer ones which are even lighter in material and wick away moisture better. *Under the brim the color is high vis yellow like the stripe.*
