Many shells claim to be breathable, but regardless of the declarations, we often have to pull them off once we get warmed up. This isn't the case with Castelli Sempre Women’s Jacket. While most jackets provide great protection, the Achilles' heel of this defense is that once the pace picks up or the sun comes out, we'll begin to overheat. Often, once we pull off the offending shell, we are a clammy damp mess and we quickly chill again beginning this vicious cycle.
Castelli engineered for more airflow to pass through the material of the Sempre so that while riding, it prevents overheating and sweat can easily evaporate. Despite all this extra ventilation, the Schemo fabric has a fine enough knit to keep wind from entering the garment. A DWR coating is added to the face-fabric creating a hydrophobic, smooth surface for water to bead up and roll off. The Sempre isn't designed for an all-out deluge, but you'll be really glad you have it when it sprinkles and especially afterward, when the sun comes out and the humidity rises. The jacket has a very clean and technical look that we have come to expect from Castelli. The cut is form-fitting and the YKK Vislon zipper, laser ventilation holes at the collar, and unique no-sew construction all contribute to the beautiful silhouette and functionality. If you are looking for a jacket for cool weather rides with possible precipitation but don't want to remove layers as you heat up, the Sempre jacket is for you.
