Castelli Scores Again

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Performs as advertised and has not disappointed. I decided to purchase the perfetto long sleeve as an upgrade to my short sleeved gabba to further the range of temperatures I can go out in. For me, the perfetto with a baselayer has me very comfortable in temperatures down into the low 30s and surprisingly comfortable too into the low 50s.

Winter Perfection!

  • Size Bought: XXL

My reason for choosing this jersey was to find one that could be worn alone even if the temps dipped into the 30s but also could be coupled with a midweight base layer for temperatures below 30 degrees.
And here in Nebraska we don’t even notice the wind until it is above 20 mph but the added wind protection of this jersey was an added bonus.
After reading the reviews I ordered an XL even though I wear a large in Castelli jerseys. Whenever it arrived and I tried it on, as someone else had stated, picture a stuffed sausage. I am 5’ 7” 175 pounds stocky build. Zipping would have compromised the jersey and my arms almost couldn’t fit in the sleeves. So I ordered a XXL. The fit was snug but still provided room for a midweight base layer.
My first chance to wear the jersey had nothing to do with cycling. After a snow and with the wind howling and the windchill dipping to -10....I put on a slightly heavier baselayer and the jersey and ventured out to blow snow for two hours. Yes, at times I was a little chilly, but I was amazed at its ability to deflect the wind and trap warmth inside!
Now as to my first ride, I coupled this jersey with a sleeveless undershirt and the Castelli Entrata wind bib tights. The day was partly sunny and the temp was 34° with a 12-15 mph wind. With few hills the 35 mile ride was moderate as far as effort was concerned (having to dodge patches of snow and ice) but at no time did I notice the cold or the wind. Granted, I do run on the warm side.
If you’re looking for kit that can stand up to rides in the mid 30’s to 40’s alone or even down into the 20’s with an appropriate baselayer...look no further!

Very impressive!

I was hoping for something that I could wear into the 40s F where there is also some strong winds, so the wind chill can get down there. I first tried this jersey at about 43 with strong winds, had another layer in the back pocket just in case, and was amazed how good it was with just a tank top layer underneath. It truly is windproof and breathes very well. I've since worn it up to the high 50s. My conclusion is that this is good from low 40s to high 50s or more, which is a key range where I live. With a full sleeved base layer, maybe into the 30s? Plus there's the vents. Very good quality throughout. My first thought was 'wow, this is small'. but once you get it on and lean over it all makes sense. It's not a jacket! Very Italian brand-type fit. I have broad shoulders and the L is fine for me.

Love it!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I absolutely love the heck out of this thing! Hands down my go to in fall and spring riding here in North Dakota, and when I go back to Colorado to visit the family. Sizing is great, the sleeves are plenty long enough for my arms and the torso end in the front where it should so no fabric bunches and the back is long enough to keep me covered. If it's on the chilly side I'll wear the Castelli Flanders warm under and I've gone riding as cool as 30°F, ice on the road is what stops me, not the cold or wind. When the temps creep into the higher 40s it's got vents on the sides that open up to help regulate the temp. The back pockets are bigger to accommodate the thicker gloves reaching in and there's even a little built in loop in the right pocket that's perfect to put a tire pump in. Sweat is evaporated through, but rain, snow, or road spray stays out helping to keep you dry. If I had anything negative, it would be the price, but for what it is and how well it performs, I can't really complaim. I pretty much live in this thing from September though late April, if I'm able to get out on the bike during the cooler months, this is what I'm wearing!

Love it!

Perfect fit.

Some people got this confused with a cycling jacket and gave it terrible reviews regarding how tight it fits. This is a cycling jersey, not a jacket. It fits perfect as a jersey and provides considerable warmth and protection against the wind. Nonetheless, I rode in both hot and cold conditions and this jersey functioned extraordinarily well in all scenarios. Definitely worth the investment.

I'm very surprised that you are 5 11 and 172 and fit into a Medium. I am 5 11 and 172 and a Large fits me perfectly - skin tight like a racing jersey. I agree with the rest of your review, it is an awesome Jersey.

Everyone loves to complain about fit and sizing.
Castelli knows exactly what they are doing. I’m 5’11”. 170. Size large is perfect. Yes it feels tight at first. You wouldn’t wear it around town. But get on the bike and it’s perfect. Amazing how warm for such a light Jersey. Great for winter riding in DC.

This is a great jacket!

It is light but keeps the warmth in and has vents that work just enough when it warms up. Great for the warmer cold days, don't need to wear a full winter jacket and overheat. I love the black taped seams on the red color I bought, looks good. Castelli usually runs a little snug!

Does the trick

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 3xl

I'm a stocky but fairly in shape guy and it does fit pretty racey. I agree with the other reviewer that it would not hide a big belly very well.
I have worn it in lower 40's with a base layer and was a bit chilly to start but quickly warmed up as I got going. Much past 55 degrees I need to lose the base layer and still can get warm. After 60 degrees it starts getting a bit toasty. Overall, I am happy and like the zipper vents.
I would probably not do the orange accents if I bought it again. When I see myself in ride photos I'm not a fan. That said it does match my bike and I may be overly critical.

Put the cookies back

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: large

This is an awesome piece of gear. Compared to the older Gabba 2, the fabric is a bit lighter weight.

As for fit. 5'6", 153 lbs, 40" chest. Bought a large like the Gabba 2. I'm at the edge of the size range. Any heavier and one will need to size up. Arms are small in diameter. If you have bulging biceps you might have issues. The cut is a bit closer to the body than the already race cut Gabba 2, so no fabric to flap around in the wind.

Those extra five pounds you're trying to drop...this jersey will shame you into getting rid of them.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
