CAMP USAAlpine Flash Harness

Up and down in a flash.

The Alpine Flash Harness has the same features as Camp USA's technical ice climbing harnesses, but it is lighter and more compact for longer mountaineering missions. Its load webbing construction uses minimal padding and strong strands of webbing to make the harness light, packable, and hydrophobic. Auto-locking buckles make the Alpine Flash fully adjustable at the waist and legs. Five gear loops, instead of the usual four, and four additional ice tool attachments provide massive storage options for the grandest adventures.

Lightweight Comfort and Quality!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

All harness's are not created equal. As lightweight alpine oriented harness I did not expect this harness to be as comfortable as it is. The adjustable leg loops are great when dealing with bulky layers or shorts on warmer climbs. The quality and finish on the product is fantastic as i have come to expect from camp. I have used this on longer alpine rock, sport climbing and ice and it has worked very well and been comfortable even on longer days.

Light is Right

The Alpine Flash has got to be one of the best climbing harnesses on the market. Even though it is made with lightweight minimal construction and padding the harness is comfy enough to spend the day in it. There is one waist buckle and two leg loop buckles. I like the leg loop buckles because I can easily put this harness on without taking off my crampons or skis. The gear loops are wrapped with a rubber sleeve that is easily removed if you want to cut the weight even more. I have a 31" waist and the Medium fits well.

My Favorite

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So I've pretty much gotten rid of every other harness except for my gym harness and my Flash harness.

The Alpine Flash is my favorite of the bunch and the one that I'm logging the most pitches on.

Waist:
I've got a 33" waist and opted for the size Medium on this harness. The fit between this and the Flash will be the same. The Large could work for me but I'd have to tighten it as tight as possible and I'd still have just a little wiggle room.

Leg Loops:
this is part of why I'm in love with the harness. The medium leg loops on the Flash (fixed leg loops) are a bit too tight for my quads. But the adjustable leg loops on the Alpine Flash are awesome. Plus if I'm hiking in the harness and want to loosen the leg loops even more, I can do that.

Gear Loops:
This has 4 regular gear loops, plus a 5th in the back plus the loop for my chalk bag. The thing I love about the 5th gear loop is it gives me options to store seldom used items like a quicklink, tibloc, hollow block on a locker, or any other items I'd be utilizing in a rescue situation.

Ice Clipper Slots:
This was another big reason I wanted this harness, I wanted a harness I could sport climb, trad climb and ice climb in. The ice clipper slots make this possible.

Cruising Rock Routes!

I spent the day on trad and sport rocks having a blast with this harness!
