BurtonSherman Jacket - Men's

Throwback.

The Burton Men's Sherman Jacket has that same vintage style that jackets from thrift stores have, except minus the holes and weird smell. Washed cotton canvas and DryRide Thermax insulation make the Sherman a perfect choice for shoulder season conditions. There's an internal media pocket and two triple-entry hand pockets, just in case six-armed aliens take over our world some day.

  • Washed cotton canvas shell
  • DryRide Thermax insulation
  • Printed poplin lining
  • Adjustable hood
  • Hook-and-loop cuffs
  • Triple-entry hand pockets
  • Internal media pocket

Burton Sherman Jacket

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Size Bought: L

Bought this for my brother - he's 6ft 4" and finds it tricky to get jackets long enough in the sleeve. This is actually perfect for him and is long enough in both the arm and the body.
Definitely has a vintage look to it.
External pockets are a bit odd and over the top, but it has a handy internal pocket also.

Very comfortable, love the pockets and keep me warm.

Pretty good coat

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: large

I like the vintage styling a lot. It's August, so I haven't worn the coat other than to check fit. The coat has good coverage, down past the hip for me, and the hood is large enough to wear over a thick winter hat. The fit is definitely on the long side though. I am 5'9", 180lb, broad shoulders and chest and I can tell the size large I ordered is best for someone 5'10" to 6'. The "Wood Thrush" color coat I received is slightly different than the coat pictured: the liner is tan colored instead of the blue and the patch on the sleeve is a leather diamond with a mountain embossed on it instead of the cool embroidered patch. Plenty of real estate for patches on the chest or sleeve though. What is disappointing is that it does not have velcro adjustment tabs on the sleeves which (since the sleeves are about 1" too long) is a little annoying. I'm planning to treat the cotton with wax (for wet Seattle fall and winter) and to customize the coat with a sweet national park patch on the chest.

Looks Great Weird Pockets

Got as a gift for my brother, he said - If you have had a Burton jacket before it fits like theirs tend to - a bit long. Never been a big deal to me before with other Burton jackets but on this one I feel like it's a reach and a half to start the zipping process. This jacket is a good casual warm jacket. The pockets are all pretty small...i think i'd rather have two regular sized pockets then four small ones. But you know, different strokes different folks. Aside from that I really do like how the jacket looks.
Oh, and also, the picture of the "wood thrush" one in the other comment down here looks like the cuffs can be adjusted with a strap, but that is not the case on the one I received.
