An Outdoor Necessity

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I wasn't so sure about Buffs when I first saw them around, but now, I wouldn't go outdoors without one. It makes a big difference in keeping me warm, keeping sand and dust out of my face and also is a great way to stay cool in hot weather by soaking it in cold water before wearing. They're a great accessory for being outside in any weather element the PNW can conjure.

Buff UV Buff - Bandana Print

Great for riding and keeping your neck and face comfy. Great product

Never leave home without it

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I consider a buff to be one of my most essential pieces of gear. Doesn't matter the season. It comes with. Great sun and wind protection is need anytime of year plus and the bandana print is a classic look that can't be beat!

Sun Protection

When you get sick of slathering your neck with heaps of sunscreen, pick up a UV Buff. You won't be sorry! It packs down super small so you can keep it in your pocket when not in use, and it's super easy to pull on to protect from sun as well as dust. The fabric does soften too with some washing. The prints are fun also, definitely would recommend!

Great as a neck bandana to keep the sun away pull it up when the wind picks up to block the dust. Great multi use tool around camp as well very multi uses out of it.

    sunproof bandana

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I wear a bandana all of the time while hiking so this is a great transition to a sunproof version of that. I like the full sized Buff for extra sun protection.

    Looks cool, feels itchy

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So work outside everyday in the Texas heat and have been using face masks for a while. I bought this one because of the great reviews. Pros: looks cool, fits snug/somewhat stretchy material, great at blocking out the sun. Cons: Ends aren't seamed so in time I'm sure the fabric would start to fray/unravel, and its doesn't feel great. Something about the cottony/t-shirt feel just makes my face itch like crazy. And for that reason alone I can't recommend it for lack of comfort

    Unanswered Question

There appear to be "Original Buffs" and "UV Buffs". Do the Original Buffs have a UPF rating, and do they protect your skin from the sun? I am looking for something to cover my lips, cheeks and nose while I am on a boat during hot sunshine in the summer. Would like the white bandanna "Original" but not if it isn't rated.

This seems to be my favorite

The UV Buff here seems to be my favorite. It is made of the most comfortable material, decent thickness and stretch. Each different type has a unique feel and texture. I like the UV buff the best. It's thin, so don't expect winter protection with it alone. Overall it gives some added warmth, or sun and sweat protection, depending on how you wear it, and what you wear it with. Everyone should own one at least.

      Light makes right

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this guy for skiing, and I've used it all season, but it'll also be great come summertime. It's like a bandana, except it's thin, stretchy, and actually protects you from the sun, so you don't get a roasted face unless you really want to.

Better than Sunblock and Bug Repellant

This is a must have for fly fishing the flats or a hatch in a big Western river with big hatches. Unless you like breathing in caddis flies, having a Buff is essential to fish the evening hatch! Get a few to change them out on trips as necessary. They are also great for keeping sun off your face as well as keeping your hat on by pulling the Buff over the back of the hat. These are a must have!

Lightweight and great for all season!

This neck gaiter does it all. You can wear it 12 different ways and unlike previous gaiters I've owned, it doesn't get wet and a freeze, when that happens it's basically a sheet of ice on your face! I did dry it mid day and it took like 15 seconds to dry on the hand dryer in the bathroom! A must buy if you want to keep your face warm on the slopes!

        Useful, cheap, good looking

This thing is great. IMO neck gaiters don't need to be super warm they just need to stop some wind and not freeze from your breath. This gaiter looks great and they have a million other options. It fits like it should and I usually forget I have it on. This is how all equipment should be--perform as expected and so comfortable that you forget you are using it. I'd buy another. If you want to be really fashionable buy 3 or 4.

          Took it to the desert

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

..and it did what I hoped, which was keep my face and neck from getting roasted, as well as block out most of any blowing dust! Can't wait to use it this winter.

I wear this while riding my motorcycle on cold mornings and when I'm shredding powder in the mountains. Seems pretty durable. Ive washed it about 10 times and it hasn't faded much. I recommend!

          Awesome

          Does its job. Sun protection

The Buff is a great toned down color and does its job. It stays in place over the ears and covers the front / back neck. It's reasonably cool, but can get stifling due to the snug fit over the face. Overall, a good purchase for sun protection.

          Cool!

I was commanded to cover up a bit better after not great news from the Doc. This buff keeps the sun off and doesn't interfere. Highly recommended. I got this mainly for Fly Fishing but will probably wear it while in other pursuits as well.

Started out hiking this weekend and was glad I had made this a last minute order from BC. Worked well, soft, non restrictive, and overall a great cover.

User error didn't have it positioned well and at the end of the day had a nice tan line - but that's on me.

Great fit - thankful for it!

I have tried other neck gators and so far this is the best one! Super comfy, and keeps the sun off. Light enough not to restrict movement or get in the way of my helmet (Smith) but think enough to keep you covered/warm. Washed easily no problems.

          Super comfy
