Black Diamond Skylight Footprint
Count on the Black Diamond Skylight Ground Cloth to protect your ultralight tent when an ideal camp site is far from what you're dealing with.
Use the Black Diamond Skylight Ground Cloth to protect the floor of your Skylight tent when you're pitching it in ultra-rough terrain. Its durable nylon material keeps twigs, pinecones, rocks, and other nastiness from ripping holes in your favorite tent, and it even increases water resistance when camping on snow. The Skylight Ground Cloth clips in place for a secure fit under your tent, so it won't blow away in the wind or gather water in the rain.
Does the job
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I have the BD Skylight Tent, so I bought the footprint. I've encountered several downpours and with this footprint, the floor of my tent always stays dry.
Solid protection under the tent

The BD Skylight Footprint is an awesome piece of gear to have if you own (or are getting) the BD Skylight tent (a great tent in-and-of itself - also highly recommended). It does what footprints are supposed to do - keeps the tent floor off the ground and protects it from getting ripped or pooling water below the tent - and it does it well. Also makes a great tarp when in a pinch, just big enough to sit under and keep you protected from the sun or a brief downpour.
Cheat buy this and save moeny
I was looking at cool $70 tarps and thought they seemed expensive. I thought I'd try a footprint as a tarp, it works great. This unit is a good size for ultralight camping and it has a good waterproof side that kept me off the wet ground. There is just the right amount of grommets for all good uses as a tarp and it's wider on one end which worked out great to give me more room to have my gear near me on my tarp. I don't know how it is as a footprint but it's a great tarp.
smaller than it should be. doesn't quite fit right. should've been bigger.
the size is just fine - you don't want the ground cloth sticking out past the edge of the tent.
